Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Motoo Kimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Trafelsi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kimura throws a right hand that Trafelsi ducks under and follows up with a left that Trafelsi also avoids with ease. Trafelsi moves into the clinch successfully.
Kimura wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Trafelsi has him pressed against the cage. Kimura has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Trafelsi avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Trafelsi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Trafelsi lunges at Kimura with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Kimura's hand. Trafelsi throws a right hand that Kimura ducks under and follows up with a left that Kimura also avoids with ease. Trafelsi fails in his attempt to clinch. Trafelsi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Pete Trafelsi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kimura on the wrong end of a nice hook.
That's one minute gone in the round. Trafelsi shoots in for a takedown but Kimura shows good takedown defense. Trafelsi lands a nice hook to Kimura's body. Kimura takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Trafelsi swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Kimura counters with a takedown into side control. Trafelsi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kimura. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Kimura working away. Kimura in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Kimura looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Kimura is breathing heavily. Kimura stands up and beckons Trafelsi to his feet. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Trafelsi misses with a jab, cross combination.
Kimura tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Trafelsi counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

and Trafelsi counters with a straight right hand. Trafelsi misses with a few strikes there.
Trafelsi is looking to land body kicks. Kimura shoots in but no luck this time. Trafelsi lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kimura misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Trafelsi.
Trafelsi throws a right and a left that both miss. A punch lands to the side of Kimura 's head but he takes it in his stride. Kimura clinches but Trafelsi breaks the clinch and Trafelsi connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Trafelsi drops Kimura with a right and a left! Trafelsi comes rushing in but Kimura regains his composure and manages to keep Trafelsi in guard.
Kimura is rocked! Trafelsi would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Trafelsi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Kimura tries to land a sweep but no joy. Kimura doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Kimura has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Trafelsi wants to stand but Kimura has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kimura has his hands on Trafelsi's head, controlling the position. Kimura working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Trafelsi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Trafelsi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Trafelsi trying to control the position from guard on top but Kimura is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kimura is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Trafelsi is controlling him. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Trafelsi is stalling in the full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kimura shoots in for a double leg but Trafelsi sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Motoo Kimura is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Trafelsi throws out a loose jab but Kimura uses good head movement to avoid it. Trafelsi is breathing heavily. That's one minute gone in the round. Kimura changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Trafelsi tries to avoid it but Kimura manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Trafelsi to the ground. Trafelsi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Kimura closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kimura lands in his opponent's guard. Kimura stopping the sweep attempt from Trafelsi. Trafelsi keeping moving, preventing Kimura from controlling successfully. Kimura pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Trafelsi is keeping the position for now.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Trafelsi misses with a few strikes there.
Trafelsi shoots and misses and Kimura counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Trafelsi keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Kimura content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Kimura is working for a kimura but Trafelsi is defending it quite comfortably.

Kimura wants to lay and pray for a moment but Trafelsi keeps working. Trafelsi makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Trafelsi has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Trafelsi has taken the fight to the clinch.
A short left from Trafelsi. Trafelsi gets control of Kimura's arms and successfully pulls guard. Trafelsi will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Kimura gets to his feet. Trafelsi looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Trafelsi doesn't succeed with the takedown and Kimura counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kimura.

Kimura shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kimura showed some decent athleticism there. Trafelsi is refusing to be controlled, as Kimura sits in half guard. Kimura not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Kimura seems to be working for a kimura but Trafelsi defends the submission attempt. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Trafelsi trying to hold on to Kimura's head to control him but Kimura postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kimura moves into full mount! Trafelsi won't be happy about that! Trafelsi tries to hold on but Kimura pushes him away. Kimura trying to control but he's not successful this time. Trafelsi tries to control Kimura's body but Kimura pushes him off. Trafelsi squirms to his side and now Kimura has his back! Trafelsi is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Kimura off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Kimura misses with an elbow to the head. Trafelsi holding both Kimura 's hands and preventing any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kimura throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Kimura has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Trafelsi has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Trafelsi has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke. Trafelsi avoids the strikes from Kimura. Kimura is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
