Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Scottie Lamez (ranked 4396 p4p, 2303 weight class) and Thad Thayer (ranked 278 p4p, 158 weight class). Thad Thayer has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 16 - 23 - 0, fighting out of London, Scottie Lamez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 11 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Thad Thayer! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Matti Vanhoillinen and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thayer takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Thayer takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Thayer uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Lamez. Lamez connects with a right hand. Thayer shakes it off. Thayer steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Lamez. A swing and a miss from Lamez. Lamez connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Nice takedown defense from Lamez. No joy for Thayer on that attempt. Scottie Lamez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Good standup being displayed there by Lamez as he connects with a hook. Lamez paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Donk. Lamez catches Thayer right on the button with a cross. Thayer fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lamez avoids it really well and circles away. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Thayer changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Lamez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Lamez has one of Thayer's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage. You can see the frustration on Lamez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lamez is holding Thayer down, trying to stall. Lamez can't do much from the bottom here. Lamez isn't going anywhere. Thayer is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lamez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Lamez controls the position for a moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Thayer lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Lamez down.
Thayer wants to control but Lamez is keeping him busy. Lamez is trying to control Thayer's posture but Thayer avoids it. Lamez keeping his opponent close. Lamez is looking to regain half guard here but Thayer keeps moving and retains side control. Thayer working away. Both fighters take a look at the clock. You can see the frustration on Lamez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Thayer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lamez keeps working. Thayer is looking to take a break and control but Lamez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Lamez can't do much from the bottom here. Thayer wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lamez, who protects the arm well. Lamez wants to control but Thayer postures up. A close round but Thad Thayer will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Lamez throws out a powerful jab. Thayer walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Lamez lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Decent striking displayed by Lamez there. Lamez fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Thayer on the side of the head. Thayer tries to move into range but Lamez moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Lamez scores with a punch to the head. Lamez lands with a straight right. Thayer didn't see that one coming. Lamez lunges at Thayer with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Thayer's hand. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Lamez connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Lamez getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Lamez throws a jab when Thayer was well out of range. Lamez lands with a hook. Thayer tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Thayer shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lamez sprawls well. Lamez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Thayer gets slowly back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thayer with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Lamez to score with a decent uppercut. Thayer uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Lamez. Lamez throws out a powerful jab. Lamez jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Thayer throws the kick towards the body but Lamez avoids it. Thayer takes one to the chin there. Thayer drives through with a takedown into Lamez's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Thad Thayer has got the better of the ground game so far. Lamez keeping full guard, as Thayer tries to pass. Lamez has control of Thayer's left arm, preventing Thayer from doing any damage.

Thayer wants to control from the top but Lamez keeps moving. Thayer passes Lamez's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Thayer landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Lamez is concentrating on defense, preventing Thayer from advancing position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thayer looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Lamez keeping control of the position. Lamez has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Thayer tries to pass to full mount but Lamez defends it. Lamez wants to control but Thayer is keeping busy and won't allow it. Lamez controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Lamez lands the left hand. Donk. Lamez catches Thayer right on the button with a cross. Thayer tries to clinch but Lamez moves out of range. Thayer keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Lamez. Lamez stuffs the takedown. Thayer takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Thad Thayer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Lamez connects with a nice looking jab.
Lamez lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Thayer closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Lamez's guard. Lamez controlling Thayer's posture. Lamez trying to keep a closed guard but Thayer is proving a slippery customer.

Scottie Lamez dominated that second round. That's time! Lamez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round! The fighters circle momentarily. Lamez darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Thayer misses with a jab, cross combination.

Lamez clobbers Thayer with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. We've been informed that Thayer has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. A slow jab from Lamez misses its intended target. This has been an exciting period of action! Thayer is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Lamez is staying active underneath Thayer, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Thayer is in a good position here but he's just trying to control...
