Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Edwin Gonzales (ranked 3845 p4p, 25500 weight class) and Wayne Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 459 weight class). Wayne Walker has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Edwin Gonzales!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Wayne Walker!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzales slaps away a takedown attempt from Walker, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Gonzales has a takedown stuffed.
Walker ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gonzales moves away.
Gonzales shoots in looking for a takedown but Walker manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gonzales's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Gonzales misses with a head kick.
Walker shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Walker closes the distance and clinches.
Gonzales blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gonzales tries to break free but Walker pushes him back against the cage.
Gonzales has Walker pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Walker manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Walker jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gonzales walks away with a smile on his face. Walker gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Gonzales throws a head kick but Walker moves out of range.
Gonzales sets himself, and Walker steps forward looking for the clinch! Gonzales avoids it this time.

Gonzales closes the distance and clinches.
Gonzales is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Walker to keep the fight standing.
Gonzales goes for a takedown attempt but Walker pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Gonzales drives through with a takedown into Walker's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Gonzales decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Gonzales tries a head kick but it misses.
Gonzales is looking to clinch.
Walker blocks a head kick by Gonzales.
Gonzales is breathing heavily.

Walker has taken the fight to the clinch.

Gonzales is trying to drag Walker to the mat but Walker just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

and Walker cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Gonzales shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Walker napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Gonzales decides to stand up, so the ref orders Walker to his feet.
Walker closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gonzales circles away.

Walker shoots in looking for a takedown but Gonzales manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Walker's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Walker fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gonzales avoids it really well and circles away.

Gonzales decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Walker pushes Gonzales off looking to stand but Gonzales dives back in and keeps control.

Gonzales is working for a submission of some sort.
Gonzales looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Walker looking for submissions off his back.
Walker has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gonzales is working away from the top position though.
Gonzales seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Walker does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gonzales looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Gonzales shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Walker shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gonzales but Gonzales pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Walker shoots in for a double leg but Gonzales sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Gonzales in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Walker tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Gonzales!
