The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes darts in and clinches Poirier up against the cage.
We've been informed that Hughes has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Hughes turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Poirier explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Poirier tries to keep at a distance but Hughes has taken the fight into the clinch.
