Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tripp Melendez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcelo Lucero!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Vladimir Khabensky and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lucero drives through with a takedown into guard.
Melendez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lucero is one step ahead there.

Lucero has gone for a leg lock! Melendez slips out almost immediately though and dives into Lucero's guard.


Lucero has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Melendez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Melendez passes Lucero's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Melendez keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Lucero wants to get back to full guard.

Lucero looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lucero is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Melendez is trying a forearm choke� I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Melendez in particular looking to stall.

Melendez is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Lucero knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Lucero should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Lucero is looking to improve his position but Melendez isn't that keen on the idea.

Melendez manages to capitalize on a mistake by Lucero to take his back!
Lucero tries to escape the position.
Lucero is covering up but some of the strikes from Melendez are getting through and doing damage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Melendez keeps control of the position as Lucero tries to break free.

Lucero is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The referee is taking a good look at Lucero as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Melendez!
Melendez is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
A lull in the action here.
Melendez just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
I really don't envy Lucero right now.

Melendez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

and Melendez cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Lucero misses with a takedown attempt
and Melendez scores with a counter punch that sends Lucero to the canvas! Melendez smells blood - he's punishing Lucero with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Lucero has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tripp Melendez!
