The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Excellent takedown into side control there by Shart. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Shart (4) vs (0) Mack Mack seems a little lost for a moment, as Shart dominates the positioning. Shart wants to control but Mack is keeping him busy. Mack is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Mack manages to work his way to half guard, despite Shart's best efforts. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shart trying to control the pace. Mack is not content to let Shart control the position.

Shart seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mack does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Shart pulls Mack in close to prevent any damage. Shart looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Mack seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Shart looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Shart had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mack defends it easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shart is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Shart is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mack is aware though and is defending well. Mack won't allow Shart to sweep him here. Shart looking to control.
Mack looking to pass the guard. Mack passes Shart's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Mack is working for an americana but Shart has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Mack was thinking about the submission. Shart is controlling Mack's posture.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Mack tries to free his leg and advance position but Shart is retaining full guard. Our spies down at at The Factory inform us that Mack has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Shart trying to control but Mack is working from the bottom. Mack not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
