Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Scott Adams (ranked 1540 p4p, 1088 weight class) and Sabas Mendiola (ranked 198 p4p, 152 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Scott Adams! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sabas Mendiola! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Radbod Blank and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mendiola scores with a sloppy right hand. Adams should have avoided that one. Adams takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Mendiola works the jab nicely. Mendiola misses the shot to the body. Mendiola scores with a hook to the body. Adams takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. A looping hook to the body misses from Mendiola. Adams does a little dance to reset his feet. Adams fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mendiola manages to avoid it. Mendiola throws a body shot but no joy. Adams with a body punch. A glancing blow. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mendiola throws a series of punches but Adams avoids them all with ease. Adams misses with a hook. Mendiola ducked under it nicely. Adams bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Mendiola's head backwards. Adams is looking to slow Mendiola down with leg kicks.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendiola moves out of range as Adams strikes. A combination from Adams does no damage. Adams misses with a wild body shot. Jab from Adams. Adams lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. The fight stays on the outside here - Mendiola looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Mendiola changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Adams tries to avoid it but Mendiola manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Adams to the ground. Adams escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Adams throws a hook but Mendiola blocks it. Adams stuffs the takedown attempt from Mendiola. Mendiola gets slowly back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Adams misses with a leg kick. Adams throws a nice looking combination but Mendiola bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Adams looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Adams misses with an uppercut. A nice combination there by Mendiola.
A lazy left from Adams finds it's target. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Adams connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Adams moves out of range of the strikes. Adams is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Mendiola checks a leg kick. Adams throws a poor cross that misses
and Mendiola counters with a shoot takedown. Adams fights it but they end up in guard. Adams pushes Mendiola off and gets back to his feet.
Mendiola just misses with a punch to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Adams throws a low kick but it's checked well by Mendiola. Adams thumps Mendiola with a low kick. Mendiola walks into a straight right hand from Adams. Mendiola has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Adams finds it's way round the side to connect with Mendiola's head. Mendiola is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Adams rather than just go for the knockout. Adams takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Mendiola tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Adams paws at him with a jab and circles away. Adams went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Mendiola misses with a hook to the body
and Adams counters with a stiff right hand. Adams waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Mendiola. Adams loads up on a big right hand but Mendiola slips the punch. Good leg kick by Adams.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nice takedown defense from Adams. No joy for Mendiola on that attempt. Scott Adams has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sabas Mendiola. Adams is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Mendiola. Adams throws a predictable looking body shot
and Mendiola counters with a stiff right hand. Adams throws a jab when Mendiola was well out of range. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mendiola takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Scott Adams is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. A low kick from Adams is predictable there and Mendiola counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Mendiola wants to free his trapped foot but Adams is holding on for dear life with his legs. Adams avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Mendiola. Mendiola not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Mendiola throwing shots but Adams is blocking nicely. Mendiola is trying to control the action in half guard but Adams is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Mendiola trying to control the position from guard on top but Adams is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mendiola is looking to work some ground and pound but Adams has wrist control. Adams seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Mendiola's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Mendiola looking to pass the guard. Mendiola has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Mendiola throwing strikes but missing. Mendiola connects with a couple of short punches. Adams looking for a sweep. Not yet Adams, not yet. Adams controls Mendiola momentarily but Mendiola frees himself. Mendiola missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Mendiola throwing strikes from guard but Adams blocks nicely. Adams keeping moving, preventing Mendiola from controlling successfully.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mendiola walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Mendiola is looking to clinch. Adams wants to slow Mendiola down by chopping away at his legs. Adams takes a jab right on the kisser.
Mendiola bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Adams's head backwards. Adams throws a looping overhand right but Mendiola ducks down to avoid it. Adams tests Mendiola's chin there with a solid looking shot. Adams rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mendiola moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Adams scores with a nice head shot. An inside leg kick from Adams misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Adams misses with a wild body shot. Adams misses with a hook. Mendiola ducked under it nicely. Adams lands a lovely overhand right. Adams circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Mendiola to the canvas! Mendiola doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Adams keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
