Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shteve Erthegg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shin Otami!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Steve Erwin and Topper Green.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Otami misses with a double jab
and Erthegg counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Erthegg scores with a decent looking hook.
A low kick from Otami misses
and Erthegg counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Otami tries to clinch but Erthegg moves away
and Erthegg counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Otami closes the distance looking to clinch
and Erthegg connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A head kick by Otami misses
and Erthegg makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Otami is looking to clinch but Erthegg is avoiding it.
Erthegg went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Otami shoots in and drives through. Erthegg sprawls well.
Erthegg is looking to counter punch.
Otami looks winded!
Otami lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Otami shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Erthegg counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Erthegg throws a head kick that misses.
Otami shoots for a double leg takedown but Erthegg sprawls well. He's pushed Otami's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Erthegg appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Shteve Erthegg has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shin Otami.
Otami walks into a stiff left hand from Erthegg.
Erthegg scores with a shot to the body.
Oooooh!!! Erthegg has knocked Otami down with a huge combo! Erthegg steps away and waves a wobbly Otami back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Otami is rocked!
That's two minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Erthegg flashes Otami a smile before throwing a beast of a right hand, straight down the pipe. Otami's eyes follow the hand right onto his nose, taking in it's full glory... and then darkness. Otami crumples to the floor! He's out cold! Erthegg punches the air and yells at the top of his lungs - yeeeeeeeeeeah!!!! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:07 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Shteve Erthegg!
A pretty intense looking Shteve Erthegg took the opportunity post-fight to ask for a shot at the title.
