Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Taylor (ranked 4566 p4p, 25484 weight class) and Tom Drechsler (ranked 389 p4p, 454 weight class). Drechsler has chosen Back in Black as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. John Taylor could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Tom Drechsler's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Taylor! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tom Drechsler! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Drechsler gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Drechsler breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Taylor escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Drechsler gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Drechsler decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Taylor, up you get! Drechsler scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Taylor tries to get to full guard but Drechsler has control of the leg. Drechsler keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. That's two minutes gone in the round. Drechsler thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Drechsler scoring with strikes to the body and head. Taylor looking for submissions off his back. Drechsler is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Taylor is breathing heavily. Drechsler with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Taylor avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Drechsler. Still in half guard, Drechsler seems content to control. Drechsler looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Taylor with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Taylor is looking to regain half guard here but Drechsler keeps moving and retains side control. Drechsler has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Drechsler shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Drechsler trying to control the pace. And that is the end of the round. Tom Drechsler dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Taylor misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Taylor scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Drechsler manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Taylor avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Drechsler. That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Taylor dives in and grabs Drechsler's left leg, looking for a takedown. Drechsler pushes down on Taylor's head and hops out. Drechsler looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Drechsler throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Drechsler is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Taylor sees it coming and defends easily. Drechsler jumps back into Taylor's guard. Drechsler decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Drechsler gets in close and instigates a clinch. Taylor is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Drechsler is defending well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Taylor. That's going to take a lot out of him. Drechsler turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Drechsler decides to stand back up. Drechsler steps back and let's Taylor get back to his feet. Drechsler tries a head kick but it misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Taylor looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Drechsler gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Drechsler digs a right hand into Taylor's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Taylor's gas tank. Drechsler is stalling here.

Drechsler is trying to trip Taylor. He has hold of a leg but Taylor is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Drechsler persists though and gets the takedown into guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Drechsler is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Taylor looking for a guillotine here but Drechsler defends easily.

Tom Drechsler showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Drechsler changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Taylor looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Drechsler working away. Drechsler controls the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Drechsler stands up. Tom Drechsler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A shot to the liver by Drechsler. Beautiful body shot. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Drechsler shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Taylor manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Drechsler is posturing up here but Taylor has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Drechsler tries to roll out but it's too tight and Drechsler has to tap! Slick submission there by Taylor!
