Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between lou baker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ernie Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, lou baker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ernie Mason!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Winston Howard and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mason connects with the punch.


It looks like lou baker has been cut.
baker pulls out of a head kick attempt.
baker looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mason is fending him off so far but baker persists. Nope, Mason circles away and we're back to standing.
Mason throws a body kick that misses.

Mason closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mason lands in his opponent's guard.
Mason sitting in guard here, content to control.
Mason's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Let's hope that Mason has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
baker wants to get back to his feet but Mason is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

baker wants to stand and escape but Mason is having none of it.
Mason controls from within his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mason's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Despite being in the dominant position, Ernie Mason just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and baker counters with a solid body kick.
baker scores with a spinning back kick!
Mason has a takedown stuffed.
Mason throws a head kick but baker moves out of range.
baker lands a nice looking body kick.
baker closes the distance and clinches up with Mason, looking for a takedown. baker pushes Mason against the cage but Mason circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A low kick from Mason is predictable there
and baker counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Mason throws a lazy head kick
and baker finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
baker lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
baker throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mason.

baker thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Mason if he has to take too many more of those.

and baker finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

Mason throws a jab when baker was well out of range.
baker explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Mason takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Mason has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from baker.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

baker goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
A low kick from Mason misses
and baker counters with a right hand to the body.
baker lands a nice looking kick to the body. Mason takes a step back to recover.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from baker - that will leave a mark!
baker moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

baker decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Mason is refusing to be controlled, as baker sits in half guard.
Mason wants to get back to full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mason is controlling baker's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Mason pushes baker off and gets back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ernie Mason will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on lou baker's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and baker counters with a stiff right hand.
Ernie Mason seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Both fighters circling a little - baker finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

baker stands and throws Mason's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Mason is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

You can see the frustration on Mason's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Mason is letting baker control him for a moment.
Mason manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Mason has his hands clasped together around baker's back. He's all about the action.
Mason trying to get back to full guard but baker takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Mason tries to hold on but baker postures up.

and baker counters with a good, hard body kick but Mason shrugs it off.

Mason feints and as baker raises his hands in defense, Mason changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

baker is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! baker's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



baker rushes Mason and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Mason gets underhooks to prevent baker's takedown attempt.

Mason breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mason shoots in looking for a takedown. baker tries to sprawl out of it but Mason keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. baker manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
No luck for Mason with that takedown attempt.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Mason.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mason sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Mason takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
baker fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Good leg kick by baker there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
baker jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

baker lets loose with a powerful body kick. Mason will feel that in the morning.
Mason throws a shot from downtown. baker moves away and avoids it.
baker lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
baker throws a leg kick which misses Mason's front leg but catches the back leg as Mason tries to avoid it.
Mason gets cracked with a nice right hand there by baker.
baker thows a body kick. Mason tries to catch it but that hurt him.
baker with a jab.
baker fails with a takedown attempt.
baker thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Mason if he has to take too many more of those.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! baker crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Mason - the referee stops the clock and baker gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Mason. baker manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

baker scores with a push kick.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Mason lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and baker has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from baker and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

and baker makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Mason really felt that one!
Mason shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with baker but baker pushes him off and we're back to square one.
lou baker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ernie Mason.

and baker counters with a lovely straight right hand!

baker shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mason pinned against the cage. Mason gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

The fight stays on the outside here - Mason looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and baker finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Mason seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
baker would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
baker wants to pass the guard but Mason is keeping the position.
Mason has baker pulled in close to control his posture.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mason is on top in guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
lou baker showed his dominance in that final round.
I think baker has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
