Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kai Chen (ranked 766 p4p, 388 weight class) and Dragon Kingdad (ranked 70 p4p, 37 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kai Chen!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dragon Kingdad!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kingdad misses with a hook. Chen ducked under it nicely.
Chen seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Sloppy strikes from Chen. Those never looked like landing.
Chen uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kingdad.
Chen lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Chen definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Kingdad misses with a body kick.
Kingdad throws a nice looking combination but Chen bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Kingdad cracks a nice hook into Chen's ribs.
Chen avoids a kick to the body.
Chen swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Kingdad counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

and Chen counters by moving into the clinch.

Kingdad manages to break the clinch.
Chen cracks Kingdad with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kingdad throws the kick towards the body but Chen avoids it.
Kingdad keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Chen.
Kingdad follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Chen lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Dragon Kingdad seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chen throws a low kick, looking for Kingdad's leg but Kingdad calmly moves out of range.
Kingdad looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Chen takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Chen lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Kingdad chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Chen can pounce on him.

Chen throws a hook to the side of Kingdad's head but Kingdad sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Chen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Kingdad misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Dragon Kingdad is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kingdad shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Kingdad swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Chen misses with a shot to the body
and Kingdad counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Chen is rocked!
A jab lands there for Chen.
Oh Chen is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Kingdad misses with a low kick as Chen jumps back.
Kingdad slips under a jab.
Chen seems to have got his legs back now.
Chen motions for Kingdad to come forward. Chen throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Kingdad avoids the body shot from Chen.
Chen throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Chen is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Kingdad takes a body punch but keeps moving.

and Chen decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kingdad's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Chen passes Kingdad's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Kingdad really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Chen wants to work for an arm triangle but Kingdad is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kingdad is in trouble now - Chen has advanced to mount!

Chen is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Kingdad is surviving well by controlling Chen's body position as best he can.

Chen swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Kingdad is now in Chen's guard. A big mistake from Chen there, giving up the dominant position!

Chen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kingdad doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kingdad manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Chen swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Kingdad tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Chen was well out of range. Poor timing from Kingdad.
Kingdad does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Chen changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Chen lands a nice shot to the body.
Kingdad tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chen dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Kingdad. That did some damage!

Chen has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Kingdad is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Chen yanks on the arm and Kingdad is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Chen.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Kai Chen!

Kai Chen bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
