Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jimar Kinkead (ranked 695 p4p, 371 weight class) and Lawson Serrano (ranked 86 p4p, 40 weight class). Kinkead comes into the arena with No Sunshine blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jimar Kinkead! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 20 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lawson Serrano! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Hirohito Nitta.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kinkead displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Serrano. Horrible takedown attempt by Serrano or perhaps it was just good defense by Kinkead, which made it look bad. Kinkead is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Serrano. Serrano circles away from the clinch attempt.
Serrano shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kinkead as he jumps to the side. Kinkead tries to counter with a takedown but Serrano is quick to defend against it. Jimar Kinkead has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lawson Serrano. Kinkead stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kinkead wants it to stay on the feet. Serrano closes the distance and clinches up with Kinkead, looking for a takedown. Serrano pushes Kinkead against the cage but Kinkead circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Kinkead attempts a counter takedown but Serrano avoids it well and moves away. Serrano changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kinkead tries to avoid it but Serrano manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kinkead to the ground. Kinkead escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Serrano shoots for a takedown but Kinkead saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Kinkead feinted with a counter takedown. Lawson Serrano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Serrano tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kinkead sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Serrano somewhat. Kinkead attempts a counter takedown but Serrano avoids it well and moves away.
Serrano shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Serrano was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Kinkead manages to get back to half guard. Kinkead avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Serrano. Kinkead is looking to escape. Serrano thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Kinkead is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Serrano's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Serrano's back! Kinkead has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Kinkead wants to control but Serrano is keeping busy. Kinkead is hanging on to Serrano's back as he tries to escape.
Kinkead struggling to land strikes to the head as Serrano covers up. So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Serrano tries to roll but Kinkead sticks to his back.
Serrano has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Kinkead controls the position. You can see the frustration on Serrano's face� He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Kinkead connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Serrano to escape the position.
Kinkead throwing sloppy strikes. Kinkead lands a punch to the side of the head from the back. Kinkead keeps control of the position as Serrano tries to break free.
Kinkead is trying to stick to Serrano's back but Serrano is turning into Kinkead. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Kinkead's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Serrano.
 The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Kinkead has his foot on Serrano's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Serrano works his way back into a safe position though.

Kinkead is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Serrano is controlling him.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Kinkead manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Serrano manages to get himself to full guard.
 Kinkead has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Kinkead stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Serrano swivels though and keeps the full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Serrano is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kinkead controls from within his opponent's guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Serrano tries to land a sweep but no joy. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Jimar Kinkead dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Kinkead slaps away a takedown attempt from Serrano, before circling back to the center of the mat. Serrano shoots for a double leg takedown but Kinkead sprawls well. He's pushed Serrano's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Kinkead is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Serrano fails with a takedown attempt. Kinkead tries to counter by clinching up but Serrano breaks away and moves out of range. Jimar Kinkead has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lawson Serrano.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Serrano throws an elbow that misses. Kinkead uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Serrano's guard. Nice move by Kinkead!

 That's one minute gone in the round. Serrano tries to land a sweep but no joy. Kinkead trying to control the position from guard on top but Serrano is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kinkead lands a couple of decent looking shots. Serrano bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kinkead's guard.

Kinkead is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Serrano is aware though and is defending well. Serrano working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kinkead's head. Serrano with a nice head shot there.
Kinkead is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Serrano defends well. Serrano trying to control but Kinkead is working from the bottom.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Serrano throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Serrano stands and throws Kinkead's legs to the side, diving into side control. Kinkead tries to bench press Serrano off him but Serrano keeps the position. Serrano wants to control but Kinkead is keeping him busy. Kinkead manages to get back to half guard. Serrano scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
 That's three minutes gone in the round.

 Kinkead is rocked! A big strike lands for Serrano! That's really hurt Kinkead and he's turned his back - Serrano keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Serrano jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lawson Serrano! Lawson Serrano was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
