Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Motum Vakana (ranked 1141 p4p, 1234 weight class) and Duane Souza (ranked 123 p4p, 132 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Motum Vakana! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Duane Souza! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Viktor Lagutenko and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Souza tries for a takedown but Vakana circles away easily and Vakana connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
It looks like Duane Souza has been cut. Souza will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. A little feinted left hand from Vakana on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Vakana fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Souza, pushing him back against the cage. A head punch on the inside from Vakana fails to land. Vakana pushes off an throws an elbow but Souza leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. A body shot lands from Vakana.
Vakana lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Souza backwards. Souza lands a takedown into guard.
Vakana working a defensive guard but Souza passes into half guard.
Vakana keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Vakana is looking to improve his position.
Souza lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Souza is looking to advance position but Vakana won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vakana tries to roll over but Souza keeps him under control. Souza seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Vakana does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Vakana tries to get to full guard but Souza has control of the leg. Ground and pound from Souza. Vakana is looking to improve his position.
Vakana has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Souza is trying to control. Vakana wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Souza is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Vakana is just riding it out for now. Souza eventually gives up the hold. Souza looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vakana tries to roll over but Souza keeps him under control. Souza wants to take a breather but Vakana is having none of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Vakana tries to get to full guard but Souza has control of the leg. Souza landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Souza is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Vakana has managed to free his arm - good work. Souza seems to be working for a kimura but Vakana defends the submission attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Souza prevents Vakana from improving his position. Souza is trying to control. Vakana wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Souza maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Vakana could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Souza has cracked it and Vakana is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Souza!
