Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Smedt Van Kampen (ranked 2934 p4p, 3593 weight class) and Kyle Calderon (ranked 326 p4p, 378 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Smedt Van Kampen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kyle Calderon! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Calderon goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
It looks like Smedt Van Kampen has been cut. Van Kampen avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Van Kampen changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Van Kampen gets the takedown into side control. Calderon is looking to regain half guard here but Van Kampen keeps moving and retains side control. Calderon struggling a bit here. Calderon tries to bench press Van Kampen off him but Van Kampen keeps the position. Van Kampen wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Calderon, who protects the arm well. Calderon is looking for a sweep. Van Kampen working away. Van Kampen is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Calderon has escaped the position, nice work there. Van Kampen looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's one minute gone in the round. Calderon tries to buck Van Kampen off but Van Kampen is having none of it. Calderon struggling a bit here. Calderon tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Van Kampen wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Calderon felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Calderon is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Calderon regains half guard there - taking advantage of Van Kampen's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Calderon is trying to control but can't.
Calderon is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Calderon is still trying to improve position. Calderon moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Calderon tries to land a sweep but no joy. Van Kampen tries to free his leg and advance position but Calderon is retaining full guard. Calderon trying to keep a closed guard but Van Kampen is proving a slippery customer.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Calderon bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Van Kampen's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Van Kampen keeping moving, preventing Calderon from controlling successfully. Van Kampen is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Calderon defends well. Calderon trying to control but Van Kampen is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Van Kampen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Van Kampen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Calderon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Calderon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Van Kampen utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Van Kampen looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Calderon avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Calderon drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Calderon jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Calderon trying to control but Van Kampen is working from the bottom. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Smedt Van Kampen will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Smedt Van Kampen's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Nice body kick there by Calderon. Calderon lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Calderon lands a big head kick that sends Van Kampen tumbling to the mat! Calderon takes a step backwards and waves Van Kampen back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Van Kampen is rocked! Ohhhhhhhhhh, brutal head kick from Calderon! This one is all over!
