Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shin Otami (ranked 25530 p4p, 5318 weight class) and Ricky Hatton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shin Otami! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ricky Hatton! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shigeki Sano and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hatton tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Otami defends well and Hatton ends up having to push Otami into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Hatton pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Otami is looking to counter punch. Otami slaps away a takedown attempt from Hatton, before circling back to the center of the mat. No luck with that takedown attempt from Hatton. Otami was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Shin Otami has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ricky Hatton. Otami defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hatton. Hatton rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Otami moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Hatton shoots in for a takedown but Otami shows good takedown defense. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hatton changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Otami tries to avoid it but Hatton manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Otami to the ground. Otami escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Hatton keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hatton throwing strikes but missing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Hatton trying to control the position from guard on top but Otami is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Hatton's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Otami closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hatton circles away. Hatton dips to his left and cracks Otami with an uppercut! Hatton darts in looking for a takedown but Otami gets double underhooks and turns Hatton into the cage. Hatton darts in and clinches Otami up against the cage. Shin Otami has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ricky Hatton. Otami pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Hatton manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Otami on his heels. He'll look to pass Otami's guard now, I'm sure. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hatton gets to his feet - Otami follows without any prompting. Sloppy strikes from Hatton. Those never looked like landing. Otami gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Hatton counters with a three punch combo that has Otami backing up. Otami nods at Hatton to acknowledge the strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. No luck with that takedown attempt from Hatton. A little feinted left hand from Otami on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Hatton misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Hatton lands a right hook to the body.
Hatton shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Hatton was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Hatton tries to advance to mount but can't. Hatton misses with the ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hatton is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Otami's shoulder. That is not cool. Otami defending against the ground and pound. Hatton is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Otami is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Hatton lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Hatton trying to control the action but Otami is working from the bottom. Hatton working away.
And that's the end of the fight! Ricky Hatton comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Hatton has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
