Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mike Hanson (ranked 2784 p4p, 24768 weight class) and Quek Wei (ranked 184 p4p, 277 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Hanson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Quek Wei! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hanson fails to land with a series of punches.
Wei with the counter takedown but Hanson avoids it easily. Hanson lands a nice shot to the body.
Wei misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Hanson is looking to counter with a shot to the body. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Wei. Hanson throws a quick inside leg kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wei walks into a left hand. Hanson lands a leg kick that knocks Wei off balance momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wei shoots and misses and Hanson counters with a series of strikes. Wei will be more careful next time no doubt. Mike Hanson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Quek Wei. Wei with a lazy takedown attempt and Hanson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Wei thinking. Hanson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Wei looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Wei fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hanson avoids it really well and circles away. Hanson cracks a nice hook into Wei's ribs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wei ducks right into an uppercut from Hanson. Wei will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Hanson feinted with a counter takedown. Wei has a takedown stuffed. Hanson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Wei was well out of range. Poor timing from Hanson. A telegraphed right hand from Hanson misses the target. Hanson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Wei manages to avoid it. Hanson looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Hanson fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Wei has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Hanson with the inside leg kick.

Hanson pushes down on Wei's head and hops out. Wei shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Hanson counters with a right hand to the body. Mike Hanson is winning the standup battle so far. Nice sprawl there from Hanson as Wei shoots in. Mike Hanson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Quek Wei. Hanson moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Hanson lands a really nice looking cross but Wei seems unphased.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wei keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Wei looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Hanson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wei can do to turn this around?

Wei drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Hanson defends it well. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Wei is defended easily by Hanson. Wei closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hanson circles away. Hanson lands with a slapping head kick. Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with each other but Wei might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Hanson has got the better of the exchanges. Wei shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hanson pinned against the cage. Hanson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Quek Wei is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Wei shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hanson sprawls well. Hanson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wei gets slowly back to his feet. Hanson throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Hanson swings for the body but Wei moves out of range.

Hanson is fending him off so far but Wei persists. Nope, Hanson circles away and we're back to standing. Wei looks for a takedown but Hanson sprawls well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hanson throws a leg kick which misses Wei's front leg but catches the back leg as Wei tries to avoid it. Hanson fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Wei. Mike Hanson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hanson lands a nice shot to the body.
Hanson keeps Wei at a distance using the push kick. A cross from Hanson lands. Hanson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Wei.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Hanson dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Hanson lands a jab. Wei misses with a takedown attempt - Hanson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Hanson with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Both fighters circling a little - Hanson finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Hanson takes a swing at Wei's ribcage but misses. Wei tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Wei shoots in and drives through. Hanson sprawls well. Wei ducks under a wild hook from Hanson. Wei shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hanson as he avoids it easily. Wei on the wrong end of a nice jab. Wei walks into a stiff left hand from Hanson. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice body punch from Hanson. Wei shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hanson defends it nicely. Wei shoots in for a takedown but Hanson shows good takedown defense. It looked like Hanson wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Hanson feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Weis jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Wei with a lazy takedown attempt and Hanson counters with a lovely shot to the body. Wei takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Hanson throws a shot to the body.
Hanson digs a good body shot into Wei's ribs. Hanson tests Wei's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Wei is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hanson lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Wei up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Hanson from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Wei's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
