Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Konstantine Kobalia (ranked 4136 p4p, 4424 weight class) and Melvin Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Konstantine Kobalia! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Melvin Diaz! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Phil Schofield and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Diaz working away. Kobalia tries to bench press Diaz off him but Diaz keeps the position. Diaz decides to stand back up. Diaz changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kobalia looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Diaz thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Kobalia is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Diaz is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Diaz tries to control but Kobalia wriggling away. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kobalia tries to hold on but Diaz postures up.

Diaz throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Kobalia because Diaz loaded up on that one. Diaz is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Diaz tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Diaz unloads with some shots from mount but Kobalia bucks and avoids them well.

Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Kobalia. Kobalia is working Diaz over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Diaz pulls Kobalia in close to his closed guard and prevents Kobalia from doing any damage or advancing position. Melvin Diaz has got the better of the ground game so far. Diaz is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Kobalia wants to control from the top but Diaz keeps moving. Kobalia fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Diaz sprawls well initially but Kobalia persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Kobalia slips a nice elbow through Diaz's hands, connecting with Diaz's forehead. Kobalia looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Diaz with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Diaz moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Diaz thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Diaz looking to control.
Kobalia drops back, looking for a kneebar! Diaz looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Diaz looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Diaz!
Diaz decides to stand back up. Diaz gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kobalia is in close to Diaz's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Kobalia tries to free his leg and advance position but Diaz is retaining full guard. Diaz has momentary wrist control but Kobalia slips an elbow through the middle. Kobalia on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kobalia tries to get out of the position. Diaz wants to control the pace but Kobalia is squirming around nicely. Kobalia wants to control but Diaz is having none of it.

Kobalia is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Diaz is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Diaz sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Kobalia defending well though. Kobalia tries to roll over but Diaz keeps him under control. Kobalia wants to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Diaz passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Kobalia! Kobalia wants to control but Diaz is having none of it. Kobalia is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Diaz can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kobalia is looking to escape. Konstantine Kobalia has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Melvin Diaz is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Melvin Diaz. Well Diaz has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
