PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Noel James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Baeumer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think James might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Whats New pussy Cat by Tom Jones. Baeumer is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Die Prinzen - Deutschland. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Noel James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Baeumer!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, James Ackerman and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from James misses the target.
Baeumer swings away with a leg kick that misses.
A combination from James does no damage.
Baeumer throws a head kick but James moves out of range.
James throws a jab but it's blocked by Baeumer.
Baeumer misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
James moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
James looks to throw the jab but Baeumer is out of range.

Baeumer closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
James is trying to control Baeumer's posture but Baeumer avoids it.
James regains half guard.
James is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Baeumer's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Baeumer's back!
James will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
What can Baeumer do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
James tries to keep control of the position but Baeumer is staying busy.
You can see the frustration on Baeumer's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

James has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Baeumer.
James controlling the position well here. Baeumer rolled but James kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Baeumer wants to control his opponent's hands but James gets his hands free.

James is striking well from the back but Baeumer escapes and manages to control the positon and works his way to half guard. A much better position - the crisis is over for the time being.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
James connects with a looping right hand.
James tries to move into range but Baeumer moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
James throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Baeumer's head.
James throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Baeumer sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Baeumer is looking to clinch but James is avoiding it.
A head kick misses from James.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Noel James dominated that round.
That's time! James's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Baeumer throws the left hand but James avoids the punch easily.
Baeumer shoots in and drives through. James sprawls well.
Noel James is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
James looks to land a left hand but Baeumer moved out of range nicely.
James throws a quick inside leg kick.
Baeumer shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says James as he avoids it easily.
James throws a right and a left that Baeumer avoids nicely.

Baeumer throws a hook to the side of James's head but James sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Baeumer throws an uppercut from half a mile away. James sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Baeumer circles away from the clinch attempt.
Baeumer keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
James blocks a jab.
James loads up on a big right hand but Baeumer slips the punch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
James moves out of range as Baeumer strikes.
James wants to clinch up but Baeumer keeps it at a distance.
James throws a big shot that misses.
James pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
James misses with the combination.
James looks to score with a jab to the body but Baeumer is just out of range.
Noel James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Baeumer misses with a body punch
and Baeumer takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
James gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
letting Baeumer counter with a right hand.
Baeumer misses with a takedown attempt - James sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Noel James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Baeumer.
James throws a series of punches but Baeumer moves out of range.

Baeumer misses the shot to the body.
Baeumer steps to the side to avoid the strikes from James.
James tries a head kick but it misses.
James scores with a sloppy right hand. Baeumer should have avoided that one.
Baeumer ducks under a wild hook from James.
James keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
James throws a jab but it's blocked by Baeumer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Noel James will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

and James cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

James jabs at Baeumer's body.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
James throws a sloppy head kick and Baeumer moves out of range easily.

James gets caught flat footed, as Baeumer shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

James controls Baeumer momentarily but Baeumer frees himself.
Baeumer keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of James's head.
James has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
James is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Baeumer dives into side control.
James is looking for a sweep.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
James is trying to control Baeumer's posture but Baeumer avoids it.
James is trying to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Baeumer working the ground and pound.
Baeumer looking to control but instead James has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Baeumer seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
James has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Baeumer throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Baeumer scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
James is looking to improve his position.

James wants to get back to full guard.
James regains full guard. Nicely done.
Baeumer trying to control the position from guard on top but James is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Paul Baeumer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

I would just about give that final round to Paul Baeumer.
