Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gregor Reilly (ranked 1006 p4p, 1509 weight class) and Mateus Nunes (ranked 103 p4p, 167 weight class). Reilly's entrance music is Cannonball/ The Breeders. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 13 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gregor Reilly! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mateus Nunes! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Jorge Garcia and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reilly slips a jab and a cross from Nunes.
Reilly changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Nunes wants to land a leg kick but Reilly is out of range. Reilly swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Reilly looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Nunes gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Reilly to score an easy takedown into full guard. Reilly is stalling in the full guard. Reilly working some strikes from top position. Reilly passes Nunes's left leg - he's now in half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Reilly is looking to take a break and control but Nunes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Reilly is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reilly working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Nunes is trying to control but can't.
Nunes keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Nunes looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Nunes is defending against the submission attempts here by Reilly.
Nunes makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Nunes. Reilly sitting in guard here, content to control. Nunes keeping moving, preventing Reilly from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Reilly throwing strikes but missing. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nunes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Nunes controls Reilly momentarily but Reilly frees himself. Reilly pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nunes is keeping the position for now. Nunes working for a triangle but Reilly defends it easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Nunes keeping moving, preventing Reilly from controlling successfully. Nunes can't keep his opponent in guard - Reilly advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Nunes is trying to control but can't.
Reilly is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Nunes defends it well. Nunes trying to get back to full guard but Reilly takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Reilly cracks Nunes with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Nunes taking shots to the head. Reilly lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Nunes hang on?
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nunes is desperately trying to improve his position but Reilly has a good base and remains in mount. Nunes is squirming around, avoiding Reilly's attempts to control the action. Reilly with good strikes from the mount here! Reilly looking to control but Nunes is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Nunes tries to lock up and control but Reilly gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Reilly in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nunes just holding on. Reilly controlling his opponent. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Reilly looking to control but Nunes is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Reilly is in the full mount, landing strikes. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Gregor Reilly dominated that round. That's time! Reilly's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Reilly misses with the combination.
Reilly fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Good exchange - Nunes coming out on top. Reilly misses with a left hand and Nunes cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Nunes misses with a series of wild punches.
Nunes looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Nunes throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Nunes lands a head kick. Reilly smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Nice sprawl there from Nunes as Reilly shoots in. Nunes takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Reilly takes a swing at Nunes's ribcage but misses. Reilly throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Nunes looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Nunes throws a low kick, looking for Reilly's leg but Reilly calmly moves out of range. Reilly cracks Nunes with a right hand to the side of the head. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A slow jab from Nunes misses its intended target. Reilly throws out a loose jab but Nunes uses good head movement to avoid it.
That's one minute gone in the round. A big right from Reilly misses. Reilly jabbing away but nothing is landing. Mateus Nunes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Reilly moves out of range of the strikes. Reilly misses with a straight left. Nunes throws a series of punches but Reilly avoids them all with ease. Reilly misses with a body shot.
Reilly looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Nunes! Nunes is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Reilly landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Nunes wants to control but Reilly postures up. Reilly working the ground and pound. Reilly tries to advance to mount but Nunes denies him. Reilly working the body and head with strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nunes on the wrong end of some ground and pound. This has been an exciting period of action! Nunes tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops. Nunes wants to control his opponent's hands but Reilly gets his hands free. Nunes is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Reilly is riding his opponent, not letting Nunes buck him off. Reilly is looking to control Nunes but Nunes is wriggling around and keeping busy. Nunes tries to roll but Reilly sticks to his back.
Nunes covers up after that shot from Reilly.
Reilly is punishing Nunes with some ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Reilly.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Reilly. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Reilly cracks Nunes with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Nunes from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
Gregor Reilly overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Reilly lands with a hammerfist to the side of Nunes's head. Nunes covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
Reilly is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Oooh a big shot gets through from Reilly. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Nunes is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. You can see the frustration on Nunes's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nunes covers up after that shot from Reilly.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A bit of a pause in the action here. Reilly controlling the positon. Nunes is still in real trouble! Can Reilly finish him? Reilly tries to get the hooks in deep but Nunes pushed the leg off. Nunes takes a big shot to the side of the head.
Nunes seems to have recovered his senses. Reilly struggling to keep hold of the position.
Reilly is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Nunes can do to turn this around? Nunes is trying to remain composed but Reilly is hammering down strikes to the side of his head. Nunes rolls, trying to escape but Reilly keeps control of the position.
Reilly has Nunes flattened out and is raining down punches. Reilly softening up his opponent with strikes here.
Reilly controlling the position well here. Nunes rolled but Reilly kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Reilly seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Nunes for as long as he can get away with. Nunes rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Nunes pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Nunes throws a low kick but Reilly avoids it. Nunes lands with a straight right. Reilly didn't see that one coming. Reilly ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Reilly throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Nunes. It seemed like Nunes was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Reilly connects with a good right hand that stumbles Nunes. Nunes circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Reilly shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Nunes as he avoids it easily. Nunes lands a right hook to the body.
Gregor Reilly seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nunes defending well as Reilly loads up on a big left hand. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nunes is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Reilly. A big left from Reilly misses. Nunes walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Nunes slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Reilly digs a good hook to Nunes's body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reilly shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Nunes pinned against the cage. Nunes gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gregor Reilly. That's going to take a lot out of him. Reilly misses with a few strikes there.

Reilly closes this distance looking for a takedown but Nunes circles away. Reilly lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Nice defenses there by Nunes. Reilly ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Nunes moves away. Nunes showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Reilly.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Reilly lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Nunes circles away quickly and effectively. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Reilly lands a jab to the nose. A telegraphed right hand from Nunes misses the target. Reilly will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Nunes misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Reilly takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Nunes walks into a stiff left hand from Reilly. Nice cross by Nunes. Reilly loads up on a big right hand but Nunes slips the punch. Reilly defending well as Nunes loads up on a big left hand. Gregor Reilly is winning the standup battle so far. Reilly cracks Nunes with an open hand slap. A slapping leg kick lands for Nunes.

Nunes motions for Reilly to come forward. Nunes throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Nunes stalks Reilly and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Reilly's face. Reilly staggers backwards, shaken. Reilly throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Nunes missing with a left hand there. Reilly was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. A slow jab from Nunes misses its intended target. Reilly half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Nunes misses with a looping right. Reilly moves out of range as Nunes strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Nunes buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Reilly works the jab nicely. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Reilly throws a jab but it's blocked by Nunes. Reilly throws a right and a left that Nunes avoids nicely. Mateus Nunes has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Gregor Reilly is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Nunes misses with a body shot.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Gregor Reilly. Well Reilly has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
