Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Elliot Carney (ranked 5090 p4p, 5172 weight class) and Habib Mogamedov (ranked 408 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Elliot Carney has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Elliot Carney! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Habib Mogamedov! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Anthony Taglia and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carney looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mogamedov is positioning himself well to prevent Carney advancing to mount. Mogamedov gets full guard. Mogamedov keeping moving, preventing Carney from controlling successfully. Mogamedov is striking but Carney is not phased and passes to half guard. Mogamedov wants to get back to full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mogamedov slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Carney shoots in and bounces Mogamedov off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Mogamedov is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Carney dives into side control.

Carney thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Mogamedov gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Mogamedov tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Mogamedov is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Carney's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Carney's back! Mogamedov controlling well, preventing Carney from escaping the position.

That was a close round but I would say that Elliot Carney will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.
Carney closes the distance and clinches. Carney escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mogamedov shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Carney as he jumps to the side. Habib Mogamedov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Carney dives in and scores a takedown into Mogamedov's guard. Carney postures up.
Elliot Carney overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Mogamedov is controlling Carney's posture. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mogamedov throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Carney escapes and throws Mogamedov's legs to the side, diving into side control!
That's one minute gone in the round. Carney working away. Carney wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mogamedov keeps working. Mogamedov is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Carney's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Carney is looking for a kimura but Mogamedov is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Carney to get the leverage. Carney tries to pass the half guard into mount. Mogamedov knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Mogamedov wants to control but Carney is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Mogamedov makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mogamedov. Mogamedov keeping full guard, as Carney tries to pass. Mogamedov keeping moving, preventing Carney from controlling successfully. Mogamedov managing to control the position. Mogamedov looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Mogamedov pulls Carney in close to his closed guard and prevents Carney from doing any damage or advancing position. Carney wants to control from the top but Mogamedov keeps moving. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Carney accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Elliot Carney dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mogamedov can do anything to dispel that myth. Mogamedov tries to hold on but Carney postures up. Mogamedov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Mogamedov is looking to get to half guard. Mogamedov is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Carney really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Mogamedov. The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Carney's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Mogamedov breaks Carney's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Habib Mogamedov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Elliot Carney is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Mogamedov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carney swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Elliot Carney showed his dominance in that final round. Well Carney has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
