Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Elijah Anderson (ranked 1622 p4p, 3378 weight class) and Akira Maeda (ranked 201 p4p, 386 weight class). Elijah Anderson had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 11 - 5 - 1, fighting out of London, Elijah Anderson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 20 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Akira Maeda! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Wagner Zegers and Paul Aken.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maeda lunges at Anderson with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Anderson's hand.
Anderson dives in and scores a takedown into Maeda's guard. Anderson won't allow Maeda to sweep him here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Anderson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Maeda is looking to sweep but instead, Anderson has passed into half guard.
Anderson is looking to advance position but Maeda won't allow it.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Maeda wants to improve his position but Anderson is controlling well.
Still in half guard, Anderson seems content to control. Maeda is looking for a sweep. Anderson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Maeda is trying to control but can't.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Maeda tries to roll over but Anderson keeps him under control. Anderson trying to control the pace.
 The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Anderson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Maeda makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Maeda. Maeda is trying to keep Anderson in close.
Maeda has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Anderson is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Maeda.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Maeda tries to bench press Anderson off him but Anderson keeps the position. Anderson is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Maeda regains half guard. Maeda trying to control but Anderson postures up.
Maeda is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Anderson jumps into side control! Maeda struggling a bit here.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Maeda tries to bench press Anderson off him but Anderson keeps the position. Maeda keeps trying to improve his position. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. You can see the frustration on Maeda's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Maeda is looking for a sweep. Anderson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Maeda is positioning himself to get back to half guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Anderson is taking a breather. Maeda says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Anderson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Anderson passes to side control. Maeda manages to work his way to half guard, despite Anderson's best efforts. Anderson trying to pass the guard but Maeda defending well. Maeda tries to roll over but Anderson keeps him under control. Maeda trying to control from the bottom.
Anderson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Maeda can do to turn this around?
 That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Anderson performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Maeda wants to get back to full guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Maeda is looking to control Anderson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Maeda avoid being mounted?
 The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Anderson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Maeda to the ground. Anderson is now in Maeda's guard. Maeda is trying to control the position but Anderson postures up. Anderson preventing the sweep.

Maeda had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Anderson defends it easily.
Maeda is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Anderson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Maeda for as long as he can get away with. Maeda tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Anderson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Anderson working away. Elijah Anderson dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Anderson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Maeda tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Anderson is in Maeda's guard. Maeda looking to hit a scissor sweep but Anderson is one step ahead there. Anderson passes into half guard. Anderson keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Maeda trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Anderson manages to pass to mount!

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Anderson is riding his opponent, not letting Maeda buck him off. Akira Maeda has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Anderson has the hooks in. Maeda is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Anderson is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish. Maeda just trying to survive but Anderson is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Anderson controlling the position well here. Maeda rolled but Anderson kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Maeda trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Maeda tries to escape the position.
Anderson slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Maeda is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

And that's the end of the fight! Elijah Anderson showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Anderson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
