Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Elijah Anderson (ranked 1622 p4p, 3378 weight class) and Akira Maeda (ranked 201 p4p, 386 weight class). Elijah Anderson had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 1, fighting out of London, Elijah Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Akira Maeda!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Wagner Zegers and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maeda lunges at Anderson with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Anderson's hand.
Anderson dives in and scores a takedown into Maeda's guard.
Anderson won't allow Maeda to sweep him here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Anderson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Maeda has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Anderson is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Maeda.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

You can see the frustration on Maeda's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Anderson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Anderson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Maeda to the ground. Anderson is now in Maeda's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Anderson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Maeda for as long as he can get away with.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Anderson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
