Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shin Otami (ranked 25477 p4p, 2509 weight class) and Shteve Erthegg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Erthegg is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: The Office Theme. Shin Otami has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shin Otami!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shteve Erthegg!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Shimada and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Otami wants to clinch but Erthegg slips to the side
and Erthegg counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Otami misses with a takedown attempt
and Erthegg counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Otami looks to clinch
and Erthegg counters with a nice uppercut.
Otami shoots in looking for a takedown but Erthegg manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Otami's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Otami has Erthegg up against the cage in a clinch.
Otami wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Otami ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Otami no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Erthegg connects with a nice short shot to Otami's temple.
Erthegg lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Erthegg has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Otami tries to kick Erthegg off but Erthegg keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Erthegg lands a nice short elbow.

Erthegg is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Otami has hold of Erthegg's hands but Erthegg slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Erthegg is nestled in close to Otami, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Erthegg throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Erthegg winds up and cracks Otami with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Otami is trying to maintain the position but Erthegg is very close to passing his half guard.

Erthegg is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Otami really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Erthegg uses his free foot to push down on Otami's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Otami.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Otami tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Erthegg makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Erthegg scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

The fight stays on the outside here - Otami looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Oh Otami is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Otami shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Erthegg defends it nicely.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Erthegg has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Otami is landing a low percentage of strikes.
That kick from Otami tenderised Erthegg's leg. Erthegg is trying to keep his angry face on.

and Erthegg connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Otami takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Erthegg lands a big uppercut and Otami crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Otami looks OK. Erthegg waves Otami back to his feet!
Shin Otami seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Otami gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Erthegg gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Otami is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:13 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Shteve Erthegg!
After the fight, Shteve Erthegg was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
