PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight kickboxing rules bout between Rory Birdwhistle (ranked 4621 p4p, 4585 weight class) and Edward Krause (ranked 384 p4p, 382 weight class). Birdwhistle comes into the arena with Davidian - Machine Head blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edward Krause!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Kenichi Hosakawa and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Birdwhistle lands with a thumping leg kick.
Krause displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Birdwhistle throws out the jab.
Birdwhistle looks to land a combination but Krause avoids it well.
Krause connects with a nice looking jab.
Birdwhistle misses with a straight right.
Krause looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Birdwhistle loads up on a big right hand but Krause slips the punch.
Krause avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Krause swats away the attempt to clinch by Birdwhistle.
Krause throws out a counter right but Birdwhistle avoids it with no problem.
Birdwhistle connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
A slow jab from Birdwhistle misses its intended target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Birdwhistle looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Birdwhistle swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Rory Birdwhistle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Birdwhistle throws the left hand but Krause avoids the punch easily.
A punch lands to the side of Krause 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Birdwhistle throws a jab but it's blocked by Krause.

and Krause counters with a straight right hand.
Birdwhistle is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Krause clinches.
Birdwhistle's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Krause lands a hook that snaps the head of Birdwhistle backwards.
Krause lands a body shot in the clinch.
Krause misses with a body punch.
Birdwhistle fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Krause lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the ropes.
Birdwhistle tries a body shot but Krause blocks it.
Krause tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Krause swings wildly with an uppercut but Birdwhistle uses good head movement to avoid it.

Krause's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Birdwhistle wants to clinch but Krause slips to the side
and Krause counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Birdwhistle takes one on the chin but seems OK.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Birdwhistle throws an overhand right that lands on Krause's shoulder, as Krause tries to avoid the shot.
Birdwhistle misses with a hook.
Birdwhistle on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Birdwhistle tries to clinch but Krause moves out of range.
Birdwhistle fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Krause manages to avoid it.
Birdwhistle swats away the attempt to clinch by Krause.
Krause bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Birdwhistle is rocked!
Krause throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Birdwhistle stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Oh Birdwhistle is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Krause fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Birdwhistle seems to have got his legs back now.
Birdwhistle walks straight into a perfectly timed right hook, crumpling him to the floor! Birdwhistle is in all kinds of trouble here - can he beat the count? 3,4,5,6,7,8,9....10 - he's out and it's by a long way too - he didn't ever look like beating that count!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Edward Krause!
A very excited looking Edward Krause made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
