Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between William Ward (ranked 2204 p4p, 3545 weight class) and Kain Mack (ranked 220 p4p, 340 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, William Ward!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 26 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kain Mack!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ward dodges the punch combination from Mack.
Mack throws a leg kick

and Ward counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Ward pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mack is keeping the position for now.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mack can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ward trying to control the position from guard on top but Mack is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ward stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mack swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Ward wants to control from the top but Mack keeps moving.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Ward throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mack works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Mack takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Mack lands a nice leg kick that just misses Ward's sensitive parts.
Ward throws a right hand that Mack ducks under and follows up with a left that Mack also avoids with ease.
Ward takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Mack throws a series of punches but Ward avoids them all with ease.
Mack has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Mack there as he acknowledges the shot.
Ward misses the shot to the body.
Ward displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Mack throws out the jab.
Mack lands a jab to the nose.

Mack's corner calls for a 1-2. Mack obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ward jabs Mack right on the nose. Mack blinks but takes it well.
Mack throws a sloppy head kick and Ward moves out of range easily.
Ward walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Mack tries to land a front kick but Ward steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Mack throws a series of punches but Ward avoids them all with ease.
Ward misses the shot to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Mack. Ward does a little dance to reset his feet.
Mack misses with a straight right.
Mack misses with a lunging right hand
and Ward counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Ward blocks a head kick by Mack.
Mack connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Ward's hands.
Mack throws a jab when Ward was well out of range.
Ward scores with a body shot.
Mack takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Mack takes a swing at Ward's ribcage but misses.

Ward moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Ward throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mack's waist but Mack gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ward off to one side.

Mack gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Ward to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Ward with a flurry of punches that miss.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ward postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Ward has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Ward has Mack pulled in close to control his posture.
Ward is trying to control the position but Mack postures up.
Mack won't allow Ward to sweep him here.
Mack wanted to stand there but Ward had control of the position.

Ward is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mack is aware though and is defending well.
This has been an exciting period of action!

That was a close round but I would say that William Ward will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Mack lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Ward throws a combination. Mack tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Mack throws out a leg kick but Ward moves out of range and Mack only half commits.
Ward drops down looking for a counter takedown but Mack sprawls and moves away.
Ward avoids the body shot from Mack.
Ward lands a right hook to the body.
Ward ducks under a wild hook from Mack.
Ward throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mack tests Ward's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Mack clobbers Ward with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Mack is wriggling around but Ward manages to pass to half guard.

Ward wants to control but Mack is keeping him busy.
Mack really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ward. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ward thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mack's head.

Ward is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Mack is refusing to be controlled, as Ward sits in half guard.
Mack has hold of Ward's hands but Ward slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Ward is working for a submission of some sort.
Ward is trying to control. Mack wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Ward trying to mount his opponent but Mack defends it.
Mack tries to kick Ward off but Ward keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Mack is defending against the submission attempts here by Ward.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ward with the ground and pound but Mack uses the opportunity to regain guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Ward's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Mack lets loose with a powerful body kick. Ward will feel that in the morning.
Mack moves forwards but Ward connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Mack loads up on a big right hand but Ward slips the punch.
Kain Mack seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mack keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ward is defended easily by Mack.
It seemed like Mack was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Ward fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Mack goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Ward tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mack sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ward somewhat.

Ward's jab looks to have found its range, popping Mack under the eye.
Mack tries to bum rush Ward with a series of wild strikes but Ward uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Mack looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Mack rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ward moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Mack lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Ward backs up against the cage.
Mack takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

and Ward counters with a left and a right that stings Mack.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mack tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ward was well out of range. Poor timing from Mack.

Ward is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Mack's half guard.

Ward works his way into side control.
Mack dodges the ground and pound from Ward.
Ward lands some shots froms side control.

Ward thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Ward wants to control for a moment but Mack uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Ward seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mack does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

I would just about give that final round to Kain Mack.
I think Ward has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
