The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Chris Edwards and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomes tries to score a power double leg takedown but Alvarez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gomes somewhat.
Gomes with a lazy takedown attempt
and Alvarez counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Gomes walks into a stiff left hand from Alvarez.
Gomes walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Oooh a lovely combination from Alvarez sends Gomes down but not out. Alvarez dives into side control looking to finish.
Gomes is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Alvarez in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Gomes looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Alvarez turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
