Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Davis (ranked 3396 p4p, 3693 weight class) and Paul Sanchez (ranked 322 p4p, 342 weight class). Davis comes to the cage accompanied by Not like us. Thomas Davis has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Thomas Davis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Paul Sanchez! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sanchez tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Davis was well out of range. Poor timing from Sanchez. Davis throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Sanchez tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Sanchez avoids a punch combination nicely.
Davis looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Sanchez clinches up against the cage. Davis swings wildly with an uppercut but Sanchez uses good head movement to avoid it. Sanchez has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Davis avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Sanchez tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Sanchez is looking to take this one to the mat. Thomas Davis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Sanchez. Sanchez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Davis walks away with a smile on his face. Sanchez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Davis throws a head kick but Sanchez moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sanchez gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Davis gets underhooks to prevent Sanchez's takedown attempt.
Sanchez can't get the takedown.
Sanchez jumps guard and drags Davis to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Davis stopping the sweep attempt from Sanchez. Sanchez trying to control the position here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez is trying to keep Davis in close.
Sanchez tries to strike from the bottom.
Sanchez is controlling Davis's posture. Davis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Sanchez working a defensive guard but Davis passes into half guard.
Sanchez keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Davis tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Sanchez. Sanchez missing with punches from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Sanchez trying to control from the bottom.
Sanchez gets back to full guard.
Davis preventing the sweep. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sanchez is on top in guard.
Sanchez throws a strike but Davis rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Sanchez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Sanchez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Sanchez doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Sanchez looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Davis has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Let's hope that Sanchez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Sanchez trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sanchez can do anything to dispel that myth. Sanchez pulls Davis in close to prevent any damage.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Sanchez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Davis, pushing him back against the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Sanchez fails to pull guard.

Sanchez tries to pull guard but Davis holds him up against the cage and eventually Sanchez drops back down to his feet.
Sanchez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Davis walks away with a smile on his face. Sanchez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Davis will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sanchez has taken the fight to the clinch.
Sanchez tries to pull guard but Davis forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Sanchez is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Sanchez tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Davis just stands there and leans against the cage. Sanchez looks winded! Sanchez drops down looking for an ankle pick but Davis pulls his leg out and moves away.
Sanchez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Davis swats him away and circles back towards the center. The fight stays on the outside here - Sanchez looks like he's thinking about clinching though. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Thomas Davis will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Sanchez takes a head kick and keeps coming.
It looks like Paul Sanchez has been cut. Sanchez drives through and clinches with Davis against the cage.

Davis throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sanchez. Davis is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sanchez can do to turn this around? Sanchez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Davis swats him away and circles back towards the center. Sanchez takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Sanchez is rocked! Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Davis dances in with a quick combination. Sanchez is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Davis snaps Sanchez's head back. Sanchez stumbles backwards against the cage. Davis steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Sanchez's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Sanchez just didn't come prepared.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Thomas Davis! Thomas Davis took to the mic in his post fight interview and said 'THE MERCHANT IS BACK!!!! CANT STOP THE DAVIS TRAIN, YOU CAN ONLY SLOW IT DOWN!!'. The defeated Paul Sanchez had this to say: 'Ts a shame that I keep losing, I’ll improve…eventually. Either that or I’ll drown in the waters I bring my opponents in when I win. I’ll see yall.'.
