The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Njagi stuffs the takedown attempt from Monkey. Monkey gets slowly back to his feet. Njagi stuffs the takedown. Njagi drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Njagi (2) vs (0) Monkey Njagi sitting in guard, not really doing much. Njagi has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Monkey has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Primal. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Njagi trying to control but Monkey is working from the bottom. Monkey is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Njagi passes Monkey's right leg, so he's now in half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Njagi takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Njagi is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Monkey is just riding it out for now. Njagi eventually gives up the hold. Monkey is trying to get back to full guard.

Njagi prevents Monkey from improving his position. Njagi seems to be working for a kimura but Monkey defends the submission attempt. Njagi is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
