Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Jackman (ranked 493 p4p, 406 weight class) and Kelly Van Soest (ranked 41 p4p, 33 weight class). Van Soest is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Philipee Rochard - The World (Frequencerz Remix). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 15 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jimmy Jackman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kelly Van Soest! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Van Soest tries to move into range but Jackman moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Jackman wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Van Soest staying out of range there. Jackman throws a right hand that Van Soest ducks under and follows up with a left that Van Soest also avoids with ease. Van Soest swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Jackman is trying hard to land a takedown here. Van Soest sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. It seemed like Van Soest was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Jackman uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Jackman scores with a nice head shot. Van Soest throws a head kick that misses. Jackman appears to be looking for a counter takedown. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jackman misses with a looping right. A nice side step and Van Soest releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. A swing and a miss from Jackman. Jackman lands with a good body shot.

 It looks like Jimmy Jackman has been cut. Jackman throws a right hand that Van Soest ducks under and follows up with a left that Van Soest also avoids with ease. We've been hearing reports that Jackman has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Van Soest throws a shot from downtown. Jackman moves away and avoids it. Van Soest defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jackman. Jackman moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromVan Soest. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Van Soest felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Van Soest is trying to escape the mount.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jackman working away from the top, dropping strikes. Jackman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Jackman tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jackman has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Jackman misses with the ground and pound. Jackman wants to take a breather but Van Soest manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Jackman. Jackman is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Van Soest is on top in guard.

Jackman might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Van Soest escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Van Soest slips a jab from Jackman. Van Soest drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Jackman defends it well. Jackman throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Van Soest tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jackman is in Van Soest's guard.
