This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 33 wins and 25 losses; Hand Solo! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 21 wins and 9 losses; Paulo Miyao! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Solo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Miyao is fending him off so far but Solo persists. Nope, Miyao circles away and we're back to standing. Miyao feints the counter takedown. Nice takedown defense from Solo. No joy for Miyao on that attempt. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Miyao tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Solo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Miyao tries to avoid it but Solo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Miyao to the ground. Miyao escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Horrible takedown attempt by Miyao or perhaps it was just good defense by Solo, which made it look bad. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Miyao closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Solo's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Miyao tries to roll over but Solo keeps him under control. Solo perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Solo tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Solo trying to control but Miyao is having none of it. Solo looking to control and managing it successfully. Solo seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Miyao for as long as he can get away with.

That's ten minutes gone in the round. Solo manages to work his way to half guard, despite Miyao's best efforts. Solo regains full guard. Nicely done. Miyao wants to control from the top but Solo keeps moving. Solo is adopting a defensive guard.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Solo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Miyao stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Solo swivels though and keeps the full guard. Miyao won't allow Solo to sweep him here. That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Solo engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Solo has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Miyao wants to sweep here but Solo controlling him for the moment.

Miyao is staying active underneath Solo, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Miyao is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Miyao manages to get to full guard.
