PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sparky Anderson (ranked 1235 p4p, 791 weight class) and David Snake (ranked 159 p4p, 100 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Anderson might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Pick up man. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 45 - 27 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sparky Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of , David Snake!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Percy O'Donnell and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson misses with an uppercut.

Snake pushes Anderson up against the cage in a clinch.
Snake tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Anderson just stands there and leans against the cage.

Anderson has picked Snake up - he's going for a ride! Anderson dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Anderson wants to take a breather but Snake is having none of it.

Anderson is looking for a kimura here.
Anderson trying to mount his opponent but Snake defends it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Snake wants to control but Anderson is keeping busy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Anderson is nestled in close to Snake, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Snake is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Anderson pulls his head out easily.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Anderson is working for a kimura here but Snake manages to reverse the position and he's now in Anderson's guard.
Anderson lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Snake looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Anderson has picked Snake up and slammed him! Snake can't keep hold of the triangle and Anderson manages to pass to side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Snake struggling a bit here.
Snake gets back to half guard.

Anderson seems to be working for a kimura but Snake defends the submission attempt.

Anderson is trying to work for a kimura but Snake is defending well.

Snake actively working from the bottom here.

Snake wants to control but Anderson is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Snake looking for submissions off his back.
Anderson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Snake does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Anderson wants to pass to mount but Snake is defending the position.

Anderson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Snake looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Anderson pushes past his half guard into mount!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Sparky Anderson dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

A looping hook to the body misses from Anderson. Snake does a little dance to reset his feet.
Snake tries to counter with a clinch but Anderson shakes him off and moves away.
Anderson throws the left hand but Snake avoids the punch easily.
Snake is looking to clinch.
Anderson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Snake moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Sparky Anderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Anderson works the jab nicely.
Sparky Anderson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Anderson lands a really nice looking cross but Snake seems unphased.
Snake tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Anderson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Snake closes the distance but Anderson moves to the side
and Anderson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Snake uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Anderson.
Snake tries to counter by closing the distance.
Anderson stalks Snake and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Snake's face. Snake staggers backwards, shaken.
A combination from Anderson does no damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Anderson catches Snake with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
We've been informed that Snake has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Snake moves out of range of the strikes.

Snake gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Anderson breaks the clinch.
Anderson scores with a three punch combo!

Snake is rocked!
Anderson goes for a small jab and connects. Now Anderson goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Snake stumbles back but Anderson runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Snake to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Snake will ever be the same after a knockout like that.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Sparky Anderson!
Post fight, Sparky Anderson took to the microphone: 'It's great to be the new champion, thanks to all my team around me'.
