Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Elyat Afgahni (ranked 3708 p4p, 3702 weight class) and Hannes Schafer (ranked 291 p4p, 342 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Hannes Schafer!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Glass and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Schafer fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Afgahni, pushing him back against the cage.
Afgahni working hard to break the clinch.

Schafer manages to pull guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Afgahni accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Schafer looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Schafer preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Afgahni knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Schafer on the ground.
Schafer is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Schafer is looking for a triangle but Afgahni pushes his legs off easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Afgahni closes the distance and clinches up with Schafer, looking for a takedown. Afgahni pushes Schafer against the cage but Schafer circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Afgahni throws a right and a left that both miss.
Schafer tries to counter with a clinch but Afgahni shakes him off and moves away.

and Afgahni counters with a one-two to the body.

Schafer thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Afgahni is trying to control Schafer's posture but Schafer avoids it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Afgahni is trying desperately to improve position.

Schafer is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Afgahni to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Afgahni shrugs it off.
Schafer looking to control but Afgahni is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Schafer wants to get back to his feet but Afgahni is holding on tight.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Hannes Schafer will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Afgahni tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Schafer was well out of range. Poor timing from Afgahni.
Afgahni misses with a series of wild punches.
Elyat Afgahni is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Afgahni looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Schafer is fending him off so far but Afgahni persists. Nope, Schafer circles away and we're back to standing.

Schafer closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Afgahni to the mat! Afgahni manages to get full guard.

Afgahni is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Schafer jumps guard but Afgahni turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Afgahni is looking to break free of the clinch but Schafer has double underhooks.

Schafer had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Afgahni defends it easily.

Afgahni slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Schafer parries the strikes from Afgahni easily there. Afgahni is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Schafer to escape.

Afgahni decides to stand up, so the ref orders Schafer to his feet.
Schafer wants to clinch.
Afgahni went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Afgahni looks to land a combination but Schafer avoids it well.
Schafer throws out a counter right but Afgahni avoids it with no problem.
Schafer fails with a takedown attempt.
Elyat Afgahni has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hannes Schafer.
Schafer keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Schafer goes for a double leg but Afgahni avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Afgahni continues to drive forward.
Afgahni shoots in for a takedown but Schafer shows good takedown defense.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Schafer bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Afgahni's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Afgahni throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Schafer escapes and throws Afgahni's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Schafer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Afgahni keeps working.
Afgahni takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Schafer wants to control but Afgahni is keeping him busy.
Afgahni is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Schafer tries to stand but Afgahni is controlling his head.

Schafer has hold of Afgahni's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Afgahni tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Schafer cranks the arm and Afgahni screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Afgahni, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
