Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mike Gurlukovich! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tony Rose! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Marco Blurström and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gurlukovich is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Horrible takedown by Rose or perhaps it was just good defense by Gurlukovich which made him look bad. Gurlukovich shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Rose is trying to defend but Gurlukovich finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rose blocking the ground and pound attempt from Gurlukovich. Gurlukovich knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rose on the ground. Rose gets back to full guard.
Rose looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rose is on top in guard.
Rose thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rose trying to control but Gurlukovich is working from the bottom. Rose postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Gurlukovich is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Rose working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Gurlukovich working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Rose. Gurlukovich is breathing heavily. Rose decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gurlukovich, up you get! Rose with a poor takedown and Gurlukovich counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Rose's guard now. Rose has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Rose looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rose is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Gurlukovich has his hands clasped together but Rose extends an breaks Gurlukovich's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Rose.
