The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Alopodis shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Abdul Karim defends it nicely. Alopodis shoots in but no luck this time. Abdul Karim drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Alopodis defends it well. Alopodis shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Abdul Karim tries to get to full guard but Alopodis has control of the leg.

Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Alopodis is working away from the top position though. Alopodis tries to pass to full mount but Abdul Karim defends it. Abdul Karim trying to hold on to Alopodis's head to control him but Alopodis postures up.

That's nine minutes gone in the round. Alopodis's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Abdul Karim has his hands on Alopodis's head, controlling the position. Abdul Karim is continuing to stall.
That's ten minutes gone in the round. Alopodis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Alopodis seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Abdul Karim is controlling Alopodis's posture. Abdul Karim controls Alopodis momentarily but Alopodis frees himself. Alopodis content to stall in guard here.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Alopodis looking to pass the guard. Alopodis is stalling in the full guard. Alopodis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Abdul Karim swivels though and keeps the full guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Abdul Karim is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Abdul Karim is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Abdul Karim controls Alopodis momentarily but Alopodis frees himself.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Abdul Karim looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Abdul Karim is trying to keep Alopodis in close.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Alopodis wants to pass the guard but Abdul Karim is keeping the position.
