Rules seems a little lost for a moment, as Belmiro dominates the positioning. Belmiro wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rules keeps working. Belmiro is staying tight to Rules's torso, preventing him from escaping. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
 That's one minute gone in the round. We've been hearing good reports from Rules's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Belmiro preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Rules is figuring out what he wants to do next. Belmiro has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

 That's seven minutes gone in the round. Still in half guard, Rules seems content to control. Rules is pressing down on Belmiro's thigh, looking to free his foot. Belmiro is holding on for now. Rules is taking a breather. Belmiro says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Rules content just to control the position here. Rules tries to control but Belmiro wriggling away. Belmiro is trying desperately to improve position.
 That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Belmiro sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Rules controlling the pace. Belmiro has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rules is working away from the top position though. Belmiro is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Rules's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Rules's back! Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Rules (5) vs (8) Belmiro
 That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Belmiro is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish. Belmiro's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Rules wants to control his opponent's hands but Belmiro gets his hands free.
