This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 52 wins and 42 losses; Tsuyoi Kakuto! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 46 wins and 23 losses; Yuri Prochazka! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and Dillan Fox.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Prochazka throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kakuto's waist but Kakuto gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Prochazka off to one side. Kakuto is looking to counter the offense by Prochazka and move into the clinch. Prochazka has his takedown stuffed
and Kakuto moves into the clinch. Kakuto stops a takedown attempt from Prochazka.
Tsuyoi Kakuto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yuri Prochazka. Kakuto has Prochazka pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Prochazka manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Prochazka drops down looking for an ankle pick but Kakuto pulls his leg out and moves away.
Nice takedown defense from Prochazka. No joy for Kakuto on that attempt. Kakuto changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Prochazka tries to avoid it but Kakuto manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Prochazka to the ground. Prochazka escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Prochazka shoots in for a takedown but Kakuto shows good takedown defense. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kakuto fails to land the takedown. Prochazka looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Prochazka misses with a takedown attempt - Kakuto sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Prochazka fails to land the takedown. Kakuto tries to score a power double leg takedown but Prochazka sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kakuto somewhat. Kakuto slaps away a takedown attempt from Prochazka, before circling back to the center of the mat.

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Prochazka is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Kakuto tries to get to full guard but Prochazka has control of the leg. Prochazka passes to full mount! Prochazka controlling the pace for now. We've been hearing good reports from Kakuto's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Kakuto is looking to improve his position but Prochazka isn't that keen on the idea.

Our spies down at at Freddy\'s Grappling Institute inform us that Prochazka has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
 That's six minutes gone in the round. Kakuto is breathing heavily. Good control from Prochazka. Kakuto tries to roll but Prochazka sticks to his back.
Prochazka is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Kakuto is defending well though. Prochazka let's go of the attempt for now. Prochazka has good solid back control here. Kakuto rolls, trying to escape but Prochazka keeps control of the position.

Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Kakuto (4) vs (8) Prochazka A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Prochazka holds on and takes a little breather. Prochazka looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kakuto is one step ahead there.

 That's nine minutes gone in the round. Prochazka wants to sweep here but Kakuto controlling him for the moment. Prochazka controlling the position. Kakuto slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
 That's ten minutes gone in the round. Prochazka looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Prochazka bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Prochazka manages to get himself to full guard.

 That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Kakuto looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Prochazka is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Kakuto is looking for a triangle but Prochazka pushes his legs off easily.

Score +3 for taking back: Kakuto (6) vs (18) Prochazka Prochazka just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Prochazka pulls Kakuto in close to prevent any damage. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Let's hope that Prochazka has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
 That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Kakuto trying to control but Prochazka is working from the bottom. Kakuto looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Prochazka is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that's the end of the fight! Prochazka wins on points by 18 to 8. After winning the bout, Yuri Prochazka thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility. Tsuyoi Kakuto was interviewed post fight and said 'Kyō wa watashi ga katenaito kami wa watashi ni itta (God Told Me I cannot Win today)'. |
