This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 17 wins and 14 losses; Barkeep Quark! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Line closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Line lands in his opponent's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Line (2) vs (0) Quark Quark is pulling down on Line's head. It's preventing any offense from Line, at least for the moment. Line trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Line slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. Line is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Quark trying to control but Line is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
 That's five minutes gone in the round. Line can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Quark controls the pace. Line is trying to keep Quark in close.
Quark's corner is telling him to maintain position. Line has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Line trying to keep a closed guard but Quark is proving a slippery customer.
 That's six minutes gone in the round. Line is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Quark is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Quark controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Line looking to control.

Quark trying to control the position from guard on top but Line is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. My spies in The House Of Pain inform me that Quark has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
 That's eight minutes gone in the round. Quark controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. We've been hearing good reports from Line's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Line is controlling Quark's posture. Quark stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Line swivels though and keeps the full guard.
 That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Quark is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Quark tries to free his leg and advance position but Line is retaining full guard. Line wants to sweep here but Quark controlling him for the moment. Line has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Line is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
 That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Line can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Quark controls the pace. We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Quark. Line wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
 That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Quark sitting in guard, not really doing much. Line looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
 That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Quark looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Line has control of Quark's left arm, preventing Quark from doing any damage.
And that's the end of the fight! As we have tied on points, we go to a tie breaker and Line gets a bonus point for attempting more subs. Line takes the fight on points by 3 to 2. Senger Line thanked the fans post fight for their support. |
