Perkins changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rules looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Perkins seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. My spies in HELLCADEMY inform me that Rules has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!  That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Rules takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Perkins sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Perkins is not content to let Rules control the position. Rules seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
 That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Perkins is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Perkins wants to get back to full guard but Rules has passed into side control.  That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Perkins is looking to regain half guard here but Rules keeps moving and retains side control. Perkins is working hard here to advance position. Rules happy to just control the position for now. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Perkins manages to get back to half guard.
