And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 64 wins and 67 losses; Ceph Alopodis! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Alopodis darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Chai (0) vs (2) Alopodis Alopodis trying to advance position but Chai counters by regaining guard. Alopodis slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Chai looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Chai looking to control.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Alopodis pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Chai is keeping the position for now. Alopodis is fighting to break Chai's control of his arms but Chai is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Alopodis not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Let's hope that Alopodis has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Alopodis controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.  That's three minutes gone in the round. Alopodis controlling Chai's posture. Chai might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Chai is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Chai wants to control from the top but Alopodis keeps moving.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Chai sitting in guard, not really doing much. Alopodis has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Chai has passed into side control.

Alopodis felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
 That's seven minutes gone in the round. Chai is looking to take a break and control but Alopodis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Chai takes a little break here. Alopodis wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Alopodis with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Alopodis looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Chai tries to get to full guard but Alopodis has control of the leg. We've been hearing good reports from Chai's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills.  That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Chai can't do much from the bottom here. Chai is looking to regain half guard here but Alopodis keeps moving and retains side control. Alopodis staying calm. Well,Chai is on his way to losing a decision here. Can he use his experience to pull something off in the closing minutes? You can see the frustration on Chai's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
 That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here as Alopodis stalls from top position. Chai is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Alopodis in side control, just content to control the action for now.
 That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
