Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tetsuo Shima (ranked 1028 p4p, 3721 weight class) and Mark Jackson (ranked 139 p4p, 418 weight class). Shima comes to the cage accompanied by The HU - Yuve Yuve Yu. Mark Jackson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 48 - 23 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Tetsuo Shima!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mark Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shima swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Jackson counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Shima has one foot on Jackson's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Shima tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jackson was well out of range. Poor timing from Shima.
Jackson drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Shima defends it well.
Shima misses with a lunging right hand

and Jackson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Jackson.

Shima is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Jackson presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Jackson looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jackson can't break the clinch.
Shima's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Shima stalls.
Jackson using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Shima has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Shima is struggling to control the position.
Jackson has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Shima after a bit of a struggle.
Shima works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Jackson wants a takedown.
Shima scores with a shot to the side of Jackson's head.
Jackson fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Tetsuo Shima has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Jackson.
Shima stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

Jackson is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Shima gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Jackson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Shima fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Shima throws a hook but Jackson avoids it easily.
Shima throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Shima closes the distance and pushes Jackson back into the cage.

Shima gets through Jackson's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Shima lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Jackson backwards.
Jackson is trying to push Shima away but Shima has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Jackson is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Shima to keep the fight standing.
Shima lands a body shot in the clinch.

Still in the clinch, Shima scores with a nice short uppercut.
Shima is pushing Jackson up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Shima on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Jackson misses with a body punch.
Shima lands a nice shot to the body.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Shima.
Come on Shima - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Shima dips a shoulder and cracks Jackson with a mighty uppercut! Jackson falls back against the cage and Shima unloads with a barrage of strikes! Jackson is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Shima screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tetsuo Shima!
