Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bogdan Volkov (ranked 2596 p4p, 896 weight class) and Tetsuo Shima (ranked 284 p4p, 116 weight class). Shima has chosen The HU - Yuve Yuve Yu as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shima tries to clinch but Volkov moves out of range.
Volkov swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Shima lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Shima.
It looks like Bogdan Volkov has been cut.
Volkov misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Shima.
Shima looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Volkov feints and then cracks Shima's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Shima down.

and Volkov connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Shima manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

The fight stays on the outside here - Shima looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Volkov is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Volkov rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Shima moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Shima is still on wobbly legs! Can Volkov finish him?
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Shima seems to have recovered his senses.
Shima throws a series of punches but Volkov moves out of range.

and Volkov cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Shima fails in his attempt to clinch.
Shima closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Volkov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Volkov throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Shima sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Shima's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Shima duly obliges.
Shima lands with an uppercut that bounces Volkov off the cage and back into range.

Volkov slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Volkov definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Shima appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

Shima throws a nice looking combination but Volkov bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Volkov looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Volkov takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Volkov swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Shima lands a glancing blow to the side of Volkov's head.
Shima throws a left and a right that both miss
and Shima takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Volkov bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Volkov drops Shima with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Shima looks back up at him and smiles so Volkov waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Shima shoots and misses
and Volkov counters with a big right hand! Oh Shima is in trouble here! Volkov follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!

Tetsuo Shima spoke after the fight, saying 'Off to the next, I thought I would have beat this bum but shit happens'.
