Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Chester (ranked 1072 p4p, 1960 weight class) and Matthew Griffin (ranked 142 p4p, 257 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Chester! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matthew Griffin! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Phil Schofield and James Ackerman.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Griffin misses with a two punch combination.
Chester throws a jab but it's blocked by Griffin. Chester swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Chester ducks under a wild hook from Griffin. Chester fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Griffin on the side of the head.
 It looks like Matthew Griffin has been cut. Nice uppercut lands for Chester. That snapped Griffin's head back.
Griffin looks to score with a jab to the body but Chester is just out of range. Matthew Griffin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Chester connects with a good right hand that stumbles Griffin. Griffin circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Griffin cracks Chester with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Chester looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Chester throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Chester tries to move into range but Griffin moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Griffin scores with a nice right hand.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Chester misses with a two punch combination.
Chester avoids a kick to the body.
Chester appears to be looking for a big counter. A slow jab from Chester misses its intended target. Griffin throws a right hand that Chester ducks under and follows up with a left that Chester also avoids with ease. Chester shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Mike Chester is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
 That's one minute gone in the round. A right-left combo lands from Chester. Jab from Griffin. Chester finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Griffin misses the shot to the body. Griffin has his takedown stuffed and Chester counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Griffin lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Griffin clinches. A right handed body shot lands from Chester.
This has been an exciting period of action! Griffin fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Chester digs a right hand into Griffin's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Griffin's gas tank. Chester swings wildly with an uppercut but Griffin uses good head movement to avoid it.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Chester misses with a short punch on the inside. Griffin's coach down at Gumburcules Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Griffin's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Chester lands a body punch in the clinch. Griffin takes a shot to the head. Griffin takes a shot to the head. Chester tries a body shot but Griffin blocks it.

 That has opened up Matthew Griffin's cut even more. Chester softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Chester lands a right hand that snaps the head of Griffin backwards. Nice body punch from Chester. Chester lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Nice body punch from Chester. Chester scores with a nice hook to the head. Chester lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. A short right hand to the side of the head by Chester. Chester pushes Griffin back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Chester tries a body shot but Griffin blocks it.
Chester tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Griffin's elbow. Chester tries to work over Griffin's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Griffin takes a shot to the head. Chester blocking some punches.
Chester lands a shoulder strike. Chester lands with a right to the head. A frustrated look appears on Griffin's face as he tries to break the clinch. Chester lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Chester has a couple of punches blocked by Griffin.
Griffin fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Mike Chester has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matthew Griffin. Chester misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Griffin manages to break the clinch.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Chester slips a straight right by Griffin. Chester is looking for a counter combo. Jab from Chester. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Chester thuds his shin into the meat of Griffin's side. Griffin rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Chester lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. A nice leg kick lands there from Chester. Griffin throws out a loose jab but Chester uses good head movement to avoid it.
Oooooh!!! Chester has knocked Griffin down with a huge combo! Chester steps away and waves a wobbly Griffin back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
 Griffin is rocked!
Chester moves into the clinch. Griffin is still on wobbly legs! Can Chester finish him? Chester lands with a left to the head. A short right from Chester on the inside. Chester lands with a short shot to the head. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Chester breaks from the clinch.
Griffin throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. A combination from Griffin does no damage. Griffin seems to have recovered his senses. Griffin scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Mike Chester dominated that round. The cut man is working on Matthew Griffin's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Chester cracks Griffin with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Chester has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Griffin to stand back up! Griffin takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

and Chester counters with a crisp one two that drops Griffin! Chester thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Griffin to his feet! Griffin is in big trouble!
 The cut above Matthew Griffin's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Griffin throws a right and a left that Chester avoids nicely. Chester is pawing at Griffin, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Griffin's nose. Griffin is badly hurt! Chester pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Griffin tries desperately to hold on but Chester is relentless in his assault! As Griffin receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Chester away and this one is in the books!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mike Chester!
