Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Danny Dirk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Magnus Coffey!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Chad Campbell and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice leg kick lands there from Dirk.
Dirk misses with the combination.
Coffey misses with a takedown attempt - Dirk sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Coffey throws a low kick but Dirk moves out of range easily.
Coffey wants to clinch up but Dirk keeps it at a distance.
Dirk is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Coffey throws a head kick that misses.
Dirk rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Coffey moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Dirk throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Coffey.
Dirk clinches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Coffey jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Dirk walks away with a smile on his face. Coffey gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Dirk has managed to clinch.
Dirk lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Coffey or not.
Coffey has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Dirk is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Danny Dirk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Magnus Coffey.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Coffey manages to pull guard.
Dirk wants to get up but he can't break Coffey's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Coffey working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dirk doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dirk manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Coffey looking for a sweep. Not yet Coffey, not yet.
Dirk stands up and waves to Coffey to follow him.
Dirk keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Dirk displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Coffey.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Coffey shoots in looking for a takedown but Dirk manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Coffey's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
As Coffey looks to move away, Dirk throws a big counter combo but Coffey just gets out of the way.
Coffey looks winded!
Dirk lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Coffey circles away quickly and effectively.
Coffey wants to counter with a clinch but Dirk pushes him away.
Coffey throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dirk's waist but Dirk gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Coffey off to one side.
Dirk drops Coffey with a beautiful combination! Coffey stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Dirk is looking for the KO!
It looks like Magnus Coffey has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Dirk lands a big uppercut and Coffey crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Coffey looks OK. Dirk waves Coffey back to his feet!
Coffey is rocked!
Coffey is keeping his hands low and just asking to be knocked out. Dirk Raises his leg and lands a stunning axe kick! Coffey is out cold, face down on the mat!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Danny Dirk!
Danny Dirk was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
