Goodman has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Flenderson is trying to keep an underhook but Goodman manages to get the takedown into half guard. Goodman controlling the action here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Flenderson slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Flenderson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Goodman controls the pace.

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Goodman stalling. Goodman seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Flenderson for as long as he can get away with.

I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. We've been hearing that Goodman has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Flenderson is looking to regain half guard here but Goodman keeps moving and retains side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Flenderson stops Goodman from passing to mount. Flenderson looking for a sweep but Goodman has passed into full mount! Oh no! Flenderson remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Goodman will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Goodman controlling well, preventing Flenderson from escaping the position.
