PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jaro Key (ranked 1030 p4p, 1975 weight class) and Joshua Jones (ranked 95 p4p, 160 weight class). Key comes to the cage accompanied by HonestKey- The Unseen. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jaro Key! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Joshua Jones! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Ian Loll and William Peck.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Key stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Key wants it to stay on the feet. Jones throws a jab when Key was well out of range. Jones throws a leg kick but Key checks it. Key half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Key ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Jones throws a predictable looking body shot
and Key counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Key scoring with strikes to the body and head. Jones on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Key working Jones over with strikes. Key looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Key keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Jones is looking to improve his position.
Key passes the guard and advances to mount! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jones wants to control but Key is having none of it.
 That's one minute gone in the round.
Key goes for an armbar but Jones turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Jones. Key avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Key is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Key is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jones is aware though and is defending well. Key manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jones manages to get himself to full guard.

Key postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Key controls the pace.
Key got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jones has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Key has managed to get both his arms back between Jones's legs - danger averted. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Key doesn't defend quickly enough and Jones has managed to lock this one up! Can Key escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Jones on a fantastic submission victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Joshua Jones!
