Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Johns (ranked 21434 p4p, 1682 weight class) and Tapani Kangas (ranked 340 p4p, 141 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Johns! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 18 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tapani Kangas! The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paul Aken and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Left hook, right uppercut from Kangas. Johns misses with a lunging right hand
and Kangas counters with a lovely straight right hand! Johns throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kangas is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Johns shoots in but doesn't get the takedown letting Kangas counter with a right hand. Johns has his takedown stuffed and Kangas counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Johns swings widly with a right hand
letting Kangas counter with a right hand. Johns tries to clinch up and Kangas connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Johns shoots in but no luck this time. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Johns. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kangas lands with a cross. Kangas dips to his left and cracks Johns with an uppercut! Johns with a lazy takedown attempt and Kangas counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. John Johns seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice defenses there by Kangas. Kangas drives through and clinches with Johns against the cage.
Kangas lands a nice uppercut. Kangas lands a hook that snaps the head of Johns backwards.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kangas scores with a nice hook to the head. Kangas lands with a left to the head. Good body shot from Kangas.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Kangas breaks the clinch.
Johns walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Kangas checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Johns takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Johns shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Kangas counters with a straight right hand. Johns takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Tapani Kangas is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Kangas digs a good hook to Johns's body.
Kangas listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Kangas throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Johns takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Kangas digs a good body shot into Johns's ribs. A shot to the liver by Kangas. Beautiful body shot. Kangas lands a right hook to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johns misses with a left hand and Kangas counters with a stiff right hand. Both fighters circling a little - Kangas finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Kangas lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Johns at a distance.
Kangas jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Kangas scores with a jab. Johns acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Kangas slips a straight right by Johns. Johns throws an off balance right hand
enabling Kangas to counter with a crisp jab. Nice body punch from Kangas. Johns misses with a lunging right hand
and Kangas counters with a lovely shot to the body. Johns throws a leg kick and Kangas cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Kangas lands with a shot to the body. Kangas lands with a cross. No joy there for Johns, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Johns takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Kangas lands a body shot.
Johns is breathing heavily. Kangas scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kangas throws a nice outside leg kick. Kangas lands a jab. Kangas has Johns up against the cage in a clinch.
A right handed body shot lands from Kangas.
Johns looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Kangas working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Kangas lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Johns backwards. Kangas pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Johns gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Johns takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Kangas lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Kangas is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Johns had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Johns takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Kangas jabs Johns right on the nose. Johns blinks but takes it well. Kangas connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Johns momentarily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Johns misses with a straight left. Johns throws an off balance right hand
and Kangas counters with a nice low kick that buckles Johns's knee momentarily. Johns throws a combination that misses enabling Kangas to counter with a crisp jab. Johns throws a lazy uppercut
letting Kangas counter with a right hand. Kangas throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Johns stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Nice uppercut lands for Kangas. That snapped Johns's head back.
Johns chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Kangas can pounce on him.
Kangas scores with a jab to the jaw. Kangas cracks Johns with a good jab. Kangas digs a good body shot into Johns's ribs. Kangas thows a body kick. Johns tries to catch it but that hurt him. Johns takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Nice uppercut lands for Kangas. That snapped Johns's head back.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Johns misses with a body shot
and Kangas counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Nice defenses there by Kangas. Johns throws a chopping leg kick but Kangas manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Johns throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Kangas counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Tapani Kangas dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Kangas lands with a shot to the body. Kangas cracks a nice hook into Johns's ribs. Johns throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Kangas ducks under a wild hook from Johns. Kangas's corner calls for a 1-2. Kangas obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Kangas lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Kangas connects with a crisp jab. Kangas lands with an uppercut that bounces Johns off the cage and back into range. Jab, jab by Kangas - just one landing.
Johns is rocked! Kangas lands a nice looking kick to the body. Johns takes a step back to recover. Johns misses with a wild body shot. This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Johns. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery. Kangas throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Oh Johns is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! This has been an exciting period of action! Johns takes a body punch but keeps moving. Johns takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Johns looks to land a combination but Kangas avoids it well. Johns misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Kangas counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Jab from Kangas. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Kangas fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Johns to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Johns looks to clinch but Kangas throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Johns taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Tapani Kangas!
