Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dan Diego (ranked 2279 p4p, 1483 weight class) and Jeff Lee (ranked 187 p4p, 131 weight class). Lee has chosen Doomsday Clock as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dan Diego! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 19 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jeff Lee! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Nard Betker and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lee wants to clinch but Diego slips to the side and Diego counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Diego takes one on the button. Diego circles away from the clinch attempt.

Diego went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Lee looks to score with a jab to the body but Diego is just out of range. Lee connects with a crisp jab. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Lee jabbing away but nothing is landing. Diego missing with a left hand there. Lee was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Diego lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lee circles away quickly and effectively. Lee throws a sloppy head kick and Diego counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Lee closes the distance and clinches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lee looks to throw an elbow but misses. Diego breaks the clinch.
Diego defending well as Lee loads up on a big left hand. Diego swats away the attempt to clinch by Lee. Lee scores with a jab. Diego acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Diego closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. A big right from Diego misses. Diego tries to move into range but Lee moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Lee connects with a right hand. Diego shakes it off.
Diego is rocked! Lee clinches up with Diego and pushes him back against the cage. Lee misses with a body punch.
Lee escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Diego misses with a short punch on the inside. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Lee tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Lee throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Lee is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Lee pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Jab from Lee. Diego on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Lee is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Lee rushes Diego and presses him up against the cage. Lee swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Lee swings wildly with an uppercut but Diego uses good head movement to avoid it. Lee breaks the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Lee lands a jab to the nose. Lee avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Lee looks to throw the jab but Diego is out of range. Lee doesn't manage to clinch there - Diego circles away.
Diego lands a glancing blow to the side of Lee's head. Decent striking displayed by Lee there. Lee misses with an uppercut. Diego is looking to counter punch. Lee throws a head kick that half lands.
Oh Diego is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Diego throws an overhand right that lands on Lee's shoulder, as Lee tries to avoid the shot. Lee lands a really nice looking cross but Diego seems unphased.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Lee lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Diego is trying to break the clinch but Lee has him pressed against the cage. Lee misses with a punch on the inside.

Diego was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Lee moves into the clinch successfully.

Lee is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Diego had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush. Lee tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Diego paws at him with a jab and circles away. Diego is looking to counter punch. Lee avoids the body shot from Diego.
Diego seems to have got his legs back now. A head kick misses from Lee. Lee has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off. Jeff Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Lee throws a head kick that misses and Diego counters with a stiff right hand. Lee is looking to clinch. Diego moves away from the strike by Lee. Lee tries to close the distance and clinch but Diego swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Jeff Lee dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Diego cracks a nice hook into Lee's ribs. Lee closes the distance and clinches. Diego tries to work over Lee's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Diego blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Diego pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Lee misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A quick step to the side and Diego tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Lee wants to clinch. Lee drives through and clinches with Diego against the cage.
Jeff Lee seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Diego is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Diego. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Diego creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
That's one minute gone in the round. A quick uppercut on the inside from Lee. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Lee just misses with a elbow thrown towards Diego's brow. Lee breaks from the clinch.
Lee lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

We've been told by Diego's head coaches at 3Band MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Lee has taken the fight to the clinch.

Lee throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Diego ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lee moves away. Lee might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Lee throws the left hand but Diego avoids the punch easily. Diego is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Lee doesn't manage to clinch there - Diego circles away.
Lee has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Lee throws a head kick that misses. Diego defending well as Lee loads up on a big left hand. Diego lands with a right and another and another! Lee is in big trouble! Diego lands again and this time it's lights out for Lee! A quality knockout there for Diego.
