Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Wayne Martin (ranked 25092 p4p, 3830 weight class) and Kuba Nowak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wayne Martin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Wayne Martin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kuba Nowak! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Martin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nowak's waist but Nowak gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Martin off to one side. Martin gets caught napping as Nowak dives in and scores a takedown. Martin manages to retain guard. Martin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nowak on the ground. Martin pulls Nowak in close to prevent any damage. Nowak wants to control from the top but Martin keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nowak engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nowak trying to control but Martin is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nowak drops back looking for a leg! Martin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Martin manages to kick Nowak off! Nowak jumps back into Martin's guard. Nowak trying to control but Martin is working from the bottom. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Nowak looking to pass the guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Nowak moves to clinch but Martin breaks away and Martin makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Nowak fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Martin fails to land the takedown. Martin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wayne Martin. That's going to take a lot out of him. Martin throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Nowak with the counter takedown but Martin avoids it easily. Nowak takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Nowak moves in looking to clinch but Martin pushes him off. Martin appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Martin could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. A big left from Nowak misses. Martin misses with a series of wild punches.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Martin forces Nowak back against the cage and clinches. Nowak has clasped his hands together around Martin's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Nowak is trying to get an arm triangle but Martin is defending well. You can see the frustration on Martin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Nowak is trying to get an arm triangle but Martin is defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nowak wants to stand but Martin is controlling his arm. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nowak is looking to take a break and control but Martin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Martin regains half guard. Martin is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Nowak's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Nowak's back! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Martin controlling well, preventing Nowak from escaping the position.
A lull in the action here.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Wayne Martin will probably get the nod. That's time! Martin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Martin shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Nowak napping and manages to drive through into side control! Nowak manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Nowak looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Nowak moves into full guard.
Nowak is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Martin defends well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nowak escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Martin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Martin wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Nowak's closed guard. He's half up but Nowak has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Nowak pivots and extends the arm, Martin falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Nowak! Well done that man!
