Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Silas Hodge (ranked 2454 p4p, 2700 weight class) and Trouble Som (ranked 310 p4p, 336 weight class). Trouble Som is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Silas Hodge!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Trouble Som!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Dmitry Maklakov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Som tries to bum rush Hodge with a series of wild strikes but Hodge uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Hodge half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Som lands with a hook. Hodge tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Som tries to clinch up.
Som stuffs the takedown attempt from Hodge. Hodge gets slowly back to his feet.
Som ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hodge moves away.
Hodge throws a lazy uppercut
and Hodge takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
No joy there for Hodge, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Som throws a series of punches but Hodge moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Som has managed to clinch.
Hodge tries to pull guard but Som forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Som lands with a right to the head.
Hodge tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Silas Hodge. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Som softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Hodge is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Som to keep the fight standing.

Som lands a left hand.
Som lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Hodge backwards.
Hodge tries to pull guard but Som holds him up against the cage and eventually Hodge drops back down to his feet.

Som is working Hodge over against the cage.
Som tries to throw a body punch but Hodge avoids it by throwing Som back against the cage.
Som throws a punch but it's blocked by Hodge.
Hodge blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Hodge blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Hodge drags the fight down to the ground.
Som looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Hodge is looking for a triangle but Som pushes his legs off easily.
Som controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Som stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hodge swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hodge is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Hodge is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Hodge controls Som momentarily but Som frees himself.
Som trying to control the position from guard on top but Hodge is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Som slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Hodge trying to keep a closed guard but Som is proving a slippery customer.

Som stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Som avoids the body shot from Hodge.
Trouble Som seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hodge slips a jab and a cross from Som.
Som throws a body shot but no joy.

Som gets a clinch.

Hodge jumps guard and drags Som to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Som must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Som not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Som pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hodge is keeping the position for now.

Som avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Hodge throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Hodge looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Hodge wants to sweep here but Som controlling him for the moment.

Hodge has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Som doesn't defend quickly enough and Hodge has managed to lock this one up! Can Som escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Hodge on a fantastic submission victory.
