Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Stumpy Rutherford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Douglas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rutherford comes into the arena with Why Can't We Be Friends? blaring out of the sound system. Douglas comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Rubber Chicken by Caspa kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! John Douglas will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rutherford shoots for a double leg takedown but Douglas sprawls well. He's pushed Rutherford's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Rutherford fails in his attempt to clinch. Douglas lands a lovely overhand right. Rutherford avoids a punch combination nicely.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rutherford walks into a left hand. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rutherford is defended easily by Douglas.

Rutherford is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Douglas has managed to free his arm - good work. Douglas is looking to escape. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Douglas. Rutherford scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Douglas is trying to buck Rutherford off. Rutherford working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. The ground and pound from Rutherford seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Rutherford wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Douglas, who protects the arm well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Douglas sneaks out the side door and pushes Rutherford away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Rutherford really is a fat lump. Rutherford shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Douglas pinned against the cage. Douglas gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Douglas looks to land a combination but Rutherford avoids it well. Douglas throws a right hand that Rutherford ducks under and follows up with a left that Rutherford also avoids with ease.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Rutherford looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Douglas misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Rutherford looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Rutherford seems to be working for a kimura but Douglas defends the submission attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Stumpy Rutherford dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Douglas looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Rutherford wants to clinch. Douglas tries to bum rush Rutherford with a series of wild strikes but Rutherford uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Douglas takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
