Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joey Marshall (ranked 3884 p4p, 3817 weight class) and Bun Sothea (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Joey Marshall! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bun Sothea! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Andrew Berry and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sothea stuffs the takedown attempt from Marshall. Marshall gets slowly back to his feet. Sothea is looking to clinch but Marshall is avoiding it.
Marshall darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Sothea pushes Marshall off but Marshall dives into side control.
Marshall has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Sothea tries to clinch but Marshall is having none of it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Marshall scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Marshall has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. The fight stays on the outside here - Sothea looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marshall fails with a takedown attempt. Sothea tries to clinch but Marshall moves out of range. Bun Sothea is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Sothea is looking to clinch but Marshall is avoiding it.
And Marshall counters with a quick kick to the body but Sothea blocks it. Sothea connects with an inside leg kick. Sothea tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Marshall tries for a takedown but Sothea sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joey Marshall. That's going to take a lot out of him. Marshall decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Sothea tries to kick Marshall off in order to stand up. Marshall Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Marshall moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Marshall passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Sothea!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marshall unloads with some shots from mount but Sothea bucks and avoids them well.
Sothea in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Marshall takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Marshall raining down hammerfists from mount. Sothea is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Marshall sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Marshall lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marshall looking to control and managing it successfully. Marshall lands with some strikes. Marshall stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. Bun Sothea seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The fight stays on the outside here - Sothea looks like he's thinking about clinching though. As Sothea backs away, Marshall returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. Sothea tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Marshall paws at him with a jab and circles away. Sothea tries to clinch up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A nice inside leg kick there by Sothea. That's going to slow Marshall down. Marshall throws a head kick but Sothea moves out of range.
Sothea tries to close the distance and clinch but Marshall swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Sothea tries to clinch up. Sothea fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Marshall has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Sothea thumps Marshall with a low kick. Sothea fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sothea is looking to clinch. Marshall half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Marshall tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sothea sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Marshall somewhat. Sothea wants to clinch up but Marshall keeps it at a distance. Marshall looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sothea is fending him off so far but Marshall persists. Nope, Sothea circles away and we're back to standing. A low kick lands for Sothea.
Sothea moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Joey Marshall dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Marshall feints and as Sothea raises his hands in defense, Marshall changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Marshall not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Marshall gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Marshall keeps the fight on the outside. Marshall forces Sothea back against the cage and clinches. Marshall manages to pull guard.
Marshall has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Marshall is pulling down on Sothea's head to control his posture. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Marshall manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sothea manages to get himself to full guard.
Marshall stands up from Sothea's guard - Marshall perhaps looking for a knockout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marshall shoots in but Sothea avoids the takedown attempt easily. Sothea wants to clinch and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Marshall has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Sothea. Sothea tries to close the distance and clinch up but Marshall swats him away and circles back towards the center. Sothea throws a leg kick but Marshall sees it coming and checks it nicely. Sothea tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. As Sothea tries to get set, Marshall tries to push him back and clinch up but Sothea manages to avoid the attempt. Marshall shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Marshall lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marshall slows the pace down in half guard. Marshall has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marshall is looking for a kimura but Sothea is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Marshall to get the leverage. Marshall throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Sothea blocking the ground and pound attempt from Marshall. Marshall is taking a breather. Sothea says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Marshall is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Sothea! Marshall controlling from mount. Sothea defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Marshall.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Marshall landing shots from mount. Marshall looking to finish Sothea with some ground and pound. This is bad for Sothea! Marshall controlling from mount. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Marshall is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Sothea can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Joey Marshall dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round! Sothea throws a nice inside leg kick. A low kick lands for Sothea.
Marshall is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Sothea tries to close the distance and clinch but Marshall swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Marshall shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sothea as he avoids it easily. A leg kick checked by Marshall. Sothea tries to clinch but Marshall moves out of range. Sothea tries to clinch there but Marshall circles away.
Joey Marshall is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Marshall shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Sothea napping and manages to drive through into side control! Sothea bucks up and tries to throw Marshall off but instead Marshall has got his back! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Marshall really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Sothea. Sothea is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marshall working for the choke. Marshall misses with punches from the back. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Marshall controlling from the back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Marshall's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Even with his hooks in, Marshall manages to miss with strikes from the back. Marshall looking to break Sothea's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Sothea remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Marshall will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Marshall misses with a punch to the head. Sothea defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Good control from Marshall. Marshall is persistently looking for the submission but Sothea is defending it well.
Bun Sothea has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Sothea trying to get back to his feet but Marshall is in full control for now. Sothea showing good submission defense here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. I would not like to be Sothea right now.
Marshall lands an elbow to the side of the head. Joey Marshall overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Sothea fending off the submission attempt from Marshall. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Marshall has good solid back control here.
And that's the end of the fight! Joey Marshall showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Marshall, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
